Buxton is a spa town in Derbyshire, in the East Midlands region of England. It has the highest elevation – about 1,000 feet (300 m) above sea level – of any market town in England. Close to the county boundary with Cheshire to the west and Staffordshire to the south, Buxton is described as "the gateway to the Peak District National Park". A municipal borough until 1974, Buxton was then merged with other localities lying primarily to the north, including Glossop, to form the local government district and borough of High Peak within the county of Derbyshire. Despite being in the East Midlands, economically Buxton is within the sphere of influence of Greater Manchester. The population of the town was 22,115 at the 2011 Census.

We are an independent restaurant situated in a Georgian town house, in the Derbyshire market town of Buxton. We have 3 small dining rooms over two floors, 1 ground and 2 cellar rooms (any can be hired privately) We served fresh food cooked to order complimented by a small but world wide wine list. We also open Sunday daytime from 1130am serving our Sunday Light Bites Menu only
Went to Columbine Friday evening with our future in laws! Very friendly staff greeted us and seated us in s private room downstairs. The food was delicious and the service nearly impeccable. Everyone except one thoroughly enjoyed the three courses and coffee. The only comment...MoreThank you for your review, we're very please you nearly all enjoyed your meal, and despite that glitch you are still able to recommend us- much appreciated. Hopefully you will come back again .

Simply Thai Restaurant, Buxton, opened in 2004 and our main aim was to bring you an authentic taste of Thailand in a Thai-inspired surrounding, along with the famous Thai hospitality by our attentive and charming Thai staff.
Went for a bargain lunch, had the pad Thai, red curry and coconut rice really enjoyed the food and the starters were perfect for a quick lunch it was perfect! The portions were a bit small but it was an express lunch so i assume you get more at night.
Would recommend and i will be going back!
Staff are lovely too

We visited on a Friday, pre-booked because I'd read that it can get busy. The staff were amazing, very helpful and friendly.
The food...wow. absolutely incredible. The portions are insane, very generous and tasty. It's hot, perfectly cooked and no lengthy waits, very impressive considering how busy it was. Cocktails are lovely and very reasonably priced! Cannot wait to return!!!

Breakfast visit on a gloomy day; great start though in this place. Welcoming chef “through the hatch”, friendly and efficient server. Nice and relaxed atmosphere; nothing unnecessarily over complicated - like the processes you get in some places. Really nice food and coffee too.

I came here with my girlfriend and i have to say the service, food, atmosphere and decor is amazing.
We felt very welcomed, staff were friendly, assertive, talkative but not annoyingly talkative and suggested some nice places to continue our night.
I would travel again to come here again it was a great experience!

Formally the travellers rest but now a vastly improved and individual pub/restaurant
We visited at the weekend and didn't want a full meal, so asked for a sausage and bacon baguette with chips to share. The landlady was really helpful and accommodating - our baguette when it arrived was nicely cut into 2 and served on 2 plates - I had really not expected this. They had a wedding party in at the time, but found us somewhere to sit (near the fire), so we were made to feel very welcome.
The food is good and very reasonably priced. The beer is always very good. And along with other reviewers we absolutely love the decor. The ladies loo is an inspiration!
We regularly visit the Knights Table on one of our 20 mile walks, so it's a lovely sight after coming from Axe Edge Moor and Three Shires Head.
We've always been made very welcome here and all the staff are really nice.
We will definitely be back!

We were a party of 5 adults. The service was slow, the food was average!
I had the Brasserie bleu burger, the burger itself was ok the cheese and whatever else was inside was minimal and I have had better ones in Wetherspoons (no disrespect) as it was over twice the price! Very disappointing!! My starter was a mixed Italian meat platter, the meat was good but the baguette was very small! I asked if I could have more bread as there was not enough for the meat! They had the audacity to charge for more?
we had 2 Beef Bourginon and said it was quite tasteless! and the other 2 meals were mixed fish and they said it was very nice! So overall it was very expensive and will definitely not be returning to the Le Brasserie! Very overrated!

Arrived 7.40pm, given a menu. No one came for my order, went to bar to order approx 9.00pm to be told everyone in the kitchen had gone home. Very disappointing . Maybe it’s more of a bar and they don’t do table service. Ended up in the Buxton Tap House, excellent wine, and great nut and crisps available at 9.20pm bought from the bar. Perhaps swerve Barbarella’s at that time of night, eg 7.45pm onwards. Sad, menu sounded promising.

We have visited No 6 on many occasions over the past few years. It is a very calming and relaxing establishment, refreshingly free from the usual "corporate bling"!
The food and service are always excellent and reasonably priced. All in all No 6 provides a really exceptional "feel good" experience in a good location.

Visited with my parents for sunday lunch. Such a quaint, rural restaurant with polite, friendly staff and a great atmosphere!
The menu is vast with a copious amount of choice. The food is delicious, home cooked cuisine, in ample portions!!!
Literally couldn't fault it!
SO much so we drove 45 miles to return for an evening meal the following week
