We were there for dinner recalling past times at the same place, a genuine bistrot with goat cheese specialties. Unfortunately, food is no longer what it used to be though portions were ok. We had croute au fromage, a sausage dish, etc. that were non-inspiring. Service was almost okayish without a smile and particular attention when ordering as the non-swiss waitresses privileged their own sitting with their very noisy non-swiss friends rather than the guests. This setting is an invitation to look for other places in Bulle.

We visited this restaurant at lunchtime with Swiss friends from Zurich and chose the menu du jour. The quality and quantity of the food (3 courses) was excellent and the service was very good as well. We were offered the choice of the dessert from another menu and this turned out to be something really special ! On top of all that the bill was very reasonable. Highly recommended.

The place is well located, clean and swiss by all means where locals meet. The menu contains several tasty and well cooked and presented countryside dishes at fair swiss prices. We tasted salads, boudin sausage, liver, langue de boeuf, steak and desserts at a proper quantity and quality. Service was impeccable, helpful and fast with a asmile. A place not to miss.

I went to this restaurant for lunch and was most pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The business lunch is great value for money. I strongly recommend this place. Make sure you book your table in advance.

Fantastic restaurant (near entrance to the chateau) to get fondue as well as quiche, salad, other items. We sat outside and enjoyed watching people walking towards the chateau. Great ambiance (read: old). We walked past two other places as they seemed too modern and we wanted old .

Staying at Hotel Ibis by UCB's huge site, we drove the couple km's in to quiet Bulle centre (pre-ski season!), and Chanaan was the first restaurant we spotted, and we were in.
We had no criteria, other than we both like Chinese Food a lot. In general it is very easy to find very good, but very ordinary Chinese Food, but we quickly figured this was better than that. Nice tidy and clean inside, the Chinese staff speaking fluent French, good English - nice. Menu is typically extensive and bilingual. I settled for a Chicken Coconut soup, with lemon grass, cashews and vermacelli. Absolutely delicious, beautifull coconut flavour with lemon cutting through. I could have ate a litre of it. Main course - my colleague ordered his dish in French (I don't speak French) and I ordered independently. Bizaarly I selected the exact same dish in English! Strange, but obviously a great choice. King Prawn in Black Pepper with mixed vegetables on a hotplate. How often do you order a KP dish, and the things are saddo little shrimps and a few of them. Here, big fat juicy Prawns, and maybe 12 each. The sauce was flavoursome, the pepper burning hot and the vegetables all crisp and fresh. I loved it, best Chinese food I have eaten in 10 years probably. In this French quarter of Switzerland, to me its French food quality and service, from a Chinese restuarant. THAT is a great combination. Eat it.

Folks, for this restaurant I advise to book or you might eat at 10 pm or maybe not...this restaurant is always crouded.
I advise to have the degustation menu. If not, you must try the carpaccio, the cannelonnis and the panna cotta. They're really awesome!
It might be loud, it might take a time to be served must folks it deserves the waiting time. Regular prices for Switzerland

Two other restaurants, more highly rated, where I wanted to have lunch, were closed. It was a Tuesday.
So, I luckily fell on this place and ate in the cafe part. I was met with a genuine smile and was amazed as all 4 service "ladies" were, it seemed, constantly smiling at the customers. But I was not there for the smiles, but for a good lunch. I was positively surprised. The smiles were a bonus.
I took the daily menu, of which there were two choices. One fish menu, which was a Queue de Cabillaud curry/cacahuete at CHF 20.50, and a meat menu, which was a Roti de Veau aux bolets CHF 19.50. Both were preceded by either a salad or soup. I choose the soup and the Veal.
The mixed vegetable soup was of the "thick" variety (not some "dish-water" kind) and very tasty. The Veal was a substantial portion and cooked just right. It was served with noodles and a mix of fresh vegetables. It was lacking a bit of salt, but better this way than too salty!
I had two "deci" of red wine with the meal and a coffee after and when the bill came it was my turn to smile...CHF 31.30!
It was a very pleasant experience!!

Welcome to the Chalet de Gruyères L'è avui le lathi de la Grevîre k'on fâ lè mèyà fremâdzo! or welcome to the Chalet de Gruyere, says the shepherd from Gruyere with a glow in his eye. He is proud of his origins, just as he is proud of the recipes he inherited from his father: that of the Gruyere cheese and the Fribourg Vacherin - two wonderful cheeses from the region whose reputation have gone way past our borders for decades. Every summer, the shepherds and their flocks go up to the high pastures of Gruyere for several months. The rough and tasty grass, mixed with the Alpine flora, gives the milk its particular flavor. In the evenings at the chalet, after they have milked the cows, the men with sun weather-beaten faces already know which flavors will prevail from the many hectares of wild flower meadows.
This is your typical Swiss chalet experience. The restaurant is beautifully decorated Swiss style. It is all about the ambience here. This is a great place to go if you are bringing guests from abroad.
The restaurant serves the typical fare of fondue and raclette. The quality is good but expect to pay a bit more than usual because of the ambience and location.
The staffs are friendly and efficient as you would expect of the Swiss.

The place to be for Tartare Lovers! We heard a lot about it until we finally decided to go and try it out ourselves.
Along the highway, location in the industrial area, but ideal for late nights returns or when on a way to somewhere.
The Tartare is their speciality and they do it very well with the waitresses preparing it in front of the clients, and adding many various tastes if the clients wish.
Slightly a mood of a canteen, but not disturbing at all. Very nice tartare experience.
