We were recommended this restaurant by the hotel Ibis. The food and service were very good and it isn't too expensive. It was obviously popular with local people too, there being plenty of people in and out for the take away service, as well as diners.

Somehow, in the midst of a beautiful medieval city, Pizz'Alberto manages to exist in rather unprepossessing surroundings. Don't be put off. It might be sited in a concrete cut-through but this is seriously worth a visit. Their pizzas are first class and just watching the crew work is an experience in itself. You can see people - regulars presumably - drop in just to say hi and have a hug. I don't think I have ever seen a staff work so quickly, slickly and seamlessly.
Unsurprisingly, the place books out. If you want a table in the courtyard, be sure to make a reservation. Then again, the cheap seat by the pizza oven (mine that night, on my own on a motorcycle ride) gives the best view of what's going on. They do a thriving trade in take-outs.
This is a place with real heart, which you'll quickly realise. It's not expensive and there's plenty to choose from. Expect a warm welcome and a great meal.

The restaurant is stylish, however, a bit cold. We were very pleased with the food: terrine of foie gras with bread with spices, excellent faux filet with sweet onions, the cod was a bid simple not really tasty, good selection of cheese and dessert. With one bottel of white wine we paid 111 €.

Supper here was supremely underwhelming. I had carpaccio (3 slices) with the very minimum of parmesan shavings, then prawns (only 4) with vegetables and broth. Finished off with a coupe colonel. Accompanied by one bottle of wine between 3 this cost nearly EURO 40 which is too much. Service was swift and friendly and the place was quite busy, but there are many better in Bourges.

There's an interesting idea here. Every dish comes two ways--that is, each dish is accompanied by a smaller dish using the same basic ingredients but in an entirely different preparation. You get to eat what you expect (which is always really good), and the chef gets to exercise his creativity and give you another idea.
It is possible that diner and/or chef could get distracted by this, but it makes for a more interesting meal than in many another restaurant. I wouldn't want to do this every day, but I thoroughly enjoyed my meal there and would do it again another time..
The room is beautiful--modern and understated. The service is just as it should be in a Michelin starred restaurant. If you are interested in food, I urge you to give this a try.

Having been in France for a few days and wanting a change from 3 course, rich, creamy food, we tried Cosy Delice. It's a Japanese restaurant which specialises in sushi.
We shared a banquet for two, which included miso soup, salad, a hugh selection of sushi (served on a platter shaped like a boat - really), plus skewered meat and rice. The fish and sushi was really fresh and tasty, and the meal was excellent value.
The restaurant has a good selection of Asian beers too. It's in a lovely part of Bourges old town. The staff were lovely. Highly recommended!

We had such a nice dinner here tonight! The galettes were wonderful, cooked to perfection. The waiter and the cook were friendly and helpful, and spoke English to us (yay!)
We will be in Bourges next week, and will go back to this little creperie to try different items (although that will be difficult, because we loved the ones we ordered!)

When we arrived in Bourges and decided to go out for a meal we quickly discovered that virtually everything is shut on a Sunday. After much googling we found that according to this site - i.e. Tripadvisor (see at the bottom of the page) that La Pasta was open on a Sunday so tired after a long drive and hungry - we traipsed there only to discover that that too was shut.....not happy.....so beware.
If you continue up the road, there is a square with an Italian called La Scala that was open.

Close by the Cathedral this is an ideal small restaurant for a high quality relaxed lunch. The food is somewhere between traditional French and modern. It has an informal but efficient service and a decent wine list (though why would you stray from Sancerre here) and all moderately priced.
