If you're looking for a pub with lots of character, friendly banter, and great service, this is it! The food was delicious too...you can't go wrong with Vegetable Soup and bread (and always so reasonably priced in pubs!) Wish we had a place like this in California:-)

A little unsure about what to expect from the décor. Staff were friendly and service was quick.. Good choice of dishes on menu and early bird offers available. Food was nice. Portions were good and prices were fair.

The restaurant is located by the river. I have had lunch here a number of times and the food is very good. Plenty of choice on the menu. Extremely family friendly and such a nice friendly/welcoming atmosphere when you walk in the door. I would recommend eating 'al fresco' in good weather.

A Family Friendly, Wheelchair Accessible Restaurant and Coffee House Offering Good Wholesome, Home Cooked, Quality Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner at Affordable Prices.
Dropped in on a flying visit to Ballinasloe and were glad we visited Kariba's. Homely, neighbourhood feel about the place where lots of the customers knew each other and knew the staff as well. Looked like a lot of the customers come back many times. Food was good, with a wide menu and a good range of dessert specials. Loved their Easter window display as well. Keep up the good work.

more a bar than a restaurant, but there wasn't an option to say that! Not sure they even serve food, but great live Irish Music
I stopped here for a pint after seeing the Ballinasloe Horse Festival, which was unlike anything I'd ever seen before -- horses standing around everywhere, mingling with the festival goers. There seemed to be more horses than people! Anyway, the pub is a nice one, with friendly servers and patrons alike. Well worth a stop, if only to recover from seeing hundreds of beautiful horses milling around on a fairgrounds.

My wife and I arranged to meet my Brother and his wife somewhere for a meal and a few drinks Sunday evening the 9th of October. Because we lived some distance from each other we wanted to meet somewhere that was about half way for both. We choose the Malt House Pub / Restaurant in the Square Mountbellew None of us had eaten there before. We arrived in Mountbellew about 6.30. and found it very easy to park near to the Pub. although lots of cars about. The town seemed quiet, but when we entered the Malt House Wow what a Buzz the place was full of diners young and old and families with children, at first thought we had no hope of getting a table for 4 as there was a Queue for tables. We went to the bar and ordered drinks as my Brother and I are Seasoned Guinness drinkers we weren't sure what to expect but we need not have worried the black stuff was spot on and not rushed. We asked one of the Staff about getting a table for 4 No problem the friendly girl said 15 minutes later we got a great corner table. And then the Menu. I Ordered the Lamb chops with mashed Potatoes and Veg. My Wife ordered Chicken Curry with Half rice and Chips. My brother ordered a Beef Burger Chips and Salad. And his Wife ordered Chicken goujons with salad & Chips. Not one of us left a morsel behind. really good. The wives asked for Cheese Cake for Dessert Us Lads stuck to Guinness. The Girls said the Cheese Cake was Delicious. The Staff was so helpful and friendly. The Soccer match between Ireland & Moldova was on the big screen so we stayed a couple hours. What A Gem of a place. We'll meet there again soon that's for sure.

On consulting TripAdvisor, we departed from the motorway to break our Long journey and were greeted by a lovely open fire in this cavernous pub. Very friendly and efficient staff. I had a very rich seafood pasta starter which was outstanding. Fancied steak and chips but wasn’t very hungry so ordered the minute steak which was more like a fillet – fat, juicy, and very tender. My BF had the pumpkin soup and a main course version of my starter and he was very impressed too. Shared a slice of lemon curd cake with our teas and it was delicious. Toilets are a bit dingy but clean.

One word.... devine! Greated with a warm welcome from the owner before being shown to my seat. Our table had soft red linen, flowers and a romantic candle. The restaurant boasts an extensive menu which was explained before I ordered and the food could not be faulted. Overall a most enjoyable experience that I can't wait to repeat

Average sums up the experience, Service was fine if not verging a little on too fussy. Fair choice on menu. Early bird deal available. Portions were large and the food while tasting ok wasn't anything special that left me thinking that was a great meal. Had a better meal at the Good Taste on a previous trip

Enjoyed coming here for a quick bite after shopping in Ballinasloe. The menu choice is good and there are always a good compliment of diners to show for it.
