Our history is a story of sweet success. In the times of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy we were given the honour of being appointed to be "k.u.k. Hoflieferant". Today we serve a wide range of Austrian cakes, pastries, desserts, ice specialities and traditional Austrian cuisine.
We were frankly disappointed by this rather posh-looking Konditorei. The service was poor. We went to the counter to pick out a treat to have with our coffees. They give you a number after making your selection, which is then communicated to the server (who takes your drink order). The woman at the counter seemed to understand English but was difficult to deal with when we asked which things had no nuts. One of us has nut allergies. It soured our experience, and then the service was spotty too. The fancy cakes we chose were so-so in quality.

Centre of Bad Ischl. Thirty metres from cafe sissy and river bridge.
Handy to the center of Bad Ischl this below street-level restaurant has all the classic Chinese restaurant menu items along with a nice, friendly atmosphere. We had lunch and two evening meals here and all were very good quality. Their version of the old standard Hot & Sour soup is amazing and could almost be a lunch in itself. The service is fairly quick and very friendly - a perfect place to enjoy food and company at very good prices.

Friendly staff, skilled cooks and a warm atmosphere. This place is definitely a winner in Bad Ischl. The food is splendid and the wines are excellent.

Our group of 12 hungry cyclists came 10 mins before closing but we've got excellent service. If you like central European food you should try it.

Typical austrian-bavarian inn/tavern serving a choice of authentic national as well as some chosen international dishes and excellent varity of steaks.
The food here is pretty good, everyone said it was GREAT, but we found it to be just pretty good. The only problem is that every room in this place is FULL OF SMOKE - so much so, that after a 1 hour lunch, i wreaked of smoke for hours afterward - yuck!!! Beware of the smoke.

A true traditional Austrian café, great cakes served with coffee, tea beer, old photographs on the wall and tobacco smoke wafting around. Austria has taken a very different interpretation of EU law on smoking and allows it in many cafes and restaurants.
There is a non-smoking area - it is a stark room that you walk through to get to the café proper. It has tables and chairs but no character.

Good food at fair prices is, may be, the leading feature of the restaurant. Whether à la carte or as fixed menu, the dishes are delicious, nicely served, large portions sometimes sufficient for two. One would, maybe, prefer a larger choice, especially when staying a longer time at the hotel, but still, this is a fine restaurant worth more than one visit.

I read with interest the previous reviews regarding this restaurant. On the road all day, en route from Wien, we stopped at this restaurant with a salad and pizza in mind. When we arrived we were amazed at the food selection, beer & wine selection and for some this may seem extremely important an extensive single malt collection.
We ordered a salad to split and each ordered a pasta dish.
Salad perfect, pasta dishes served hot, this is a must. The pizza oven was extremely busy with take out orders and I'm sure should I return to Bad Ischl, I'll try one of their pizzas.

We are very happy that we found this restaurant slightly off the main shopping and restaurant/bar area.
'Soizknecht' is the Austrian phonetic representation of the German word 'Salzknecht' which used to be a salt mine worker. So you will find some black/white pictures of the nearby salt mine in the otherwise very modernly furnished restaurant.
We had some 'Tapas'-like starters the mandatory Wiener Schnitzel as well as beef with chanterelles and bread dumplings which were all of very good quality and super tasty.
The evening was a pleasure and the place is definitely worth all the points it gets on TripAdvisor.

After a nice climb we had a really nice lunch here. I had the potatolocken with frankfurter sausage, for me a new course, but it tasted very good. The price was only 6,90. The service of Felix was very friendly also. I can really recommend to take a lunch here.
