From the moment you arrive, everyone will go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Relaxed and elegant atmosphere. Exquisite Gewurztraminer. Extraordinary concoctions. Black truffle dishes incorporated into the 5-course menu we had selected. Open kitchen. Extremely friendly and attentive staff. Chef Hardiquest: you gave us a memorable experience today. Thank you!

Welcome to the Stirwen! To cook, to host, to satisfy...Our principle is based on our passion for gastronomy. In Brussels, at the heart of the Jourdan area, in the shadow of the European institutions, the Stirwen restaurant is a place in which well-eating rings as a gentle melody. Such is our philosophy: regional and seasonal cuisine, respectful of the product, portioned generously, a bond between tradition and inventiveness. A cuisine right in its time, right in its place. Refined in professional chic, you will find yourself in a comfortable and elegant decor. The restaurant lends itself to any opportunity, from the business lunch to the long table. For your function, professional or private events, we provide you with a private dining room upstairs.
My friends and I opted for the 4 course "surprise" dinner with matching wines. The "amuses" were excellent; service also very good, but sometimes , etc. The 2 appetizers were wonderful; the 2nd wine was a delicious chardonnay, but it didn't go so well with a beautiful plate of green pea variations. We opted for the dry aged beef for our main & it kept my rating from being excellent: the beef was undercooked (almost raw) & tough though the taste was very good. The Italian wine served with meat course was excellent. Altogether, a very pleasant gourmet experience.

Visited this restaurant with a friend couple. It’s cosy and staff is friendly yet we had few incidents when they forgot our request (like bringing extra water, cooking steak well as there was a pregnant one etc...).
Food is good and definitely filling. Prices are a bit high but didn’t find it too pricey compared to what you get.
All in all a good restaurant even I wouldn’t go really often.

Good plain cooking with typical dishes from Belgium since 1988: Stew beef with cheek of ox in trappist dark beer, rabbit stew (boned) with Kriek, tomatoes stuffed with grey shrimps, homemade shrimps and cheese croquettes, veal blanquette, Zeeland mussels, sole meunière, saddle of hare, veal kidneys liegeoise way...; still a family restaurant, in an authentic and atypical frame: private old garage in a 19th century house Art Nouveau and Horta with a stained-glass window
Every dish we ordered was too salty, including the salad! I ordered some croquette aux crevettes and l regretted it. There is no taste of shrimps in it and felt like it was frozen for years before frying it. Horrible... I stopped eating croquettes since then.
My boyfriend had entrecôte which was so dry chewy (and of course salty!) that he couldn't finish it. I don't understand the positive reviews about this place; either we were unlucky either the reviewers dont mind earing junky food.
Such beautiful place and atmosphere, pity they don't know how to cook!!

Simple but cosy restaurant, fantastic gentle owners, simple but very good food… I could not expect a better lunch today. Sometimes good simple food tastes better than sophisticated plates… Strange but fun, you have a greek part on the menu with some traditional dishes: to try next time! And, if you like, finish like me with a perfect Irish Coffee (long time I got this perfection…). And, at the end, a very, very gentle bill

I went here with my boyfriend as we wanted to have a fancy dinner for our Valentine's dinner. We don't live far from this place and we often pass this restaurant. We were curious whether this was a good restaurant as they're rather discreet regarding location&food quality.
We got a 3 course meal:
Appetizer: scampi tempura&cheese croquettes. Scampi was well cooked, delicious curry sauce, fresh veggies - fresh cheese and bread crumbs was crispy. Noticeably homemade.
Main meal: irish beef, which were of decent quantity and good quality meat. The potato croquettes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Dessert: orange crumble&dame blanche. Crumble wasn't the best, with a raspberry sauce and fresh orange pieces but it was good nonetheless - dame blanche: good quality vanilla ice cream with some whipped cream from a can but still good.
Service was very good. Staff is very customer oriented and they were very attentive making sure whether customers like the food, recommending dishes, ready to answer questions regarding food, clearing up the table when something is finished, etc. We appreciated that the guy who seemed to be the manager was waitering the customers as well, and the fact that he seemed approachable and warm is very important to me too.
The fact that the waitresses turned the label of the drink towards the customer is a very important detail to me as it shows they got a proper training. It indicates that the bar is set up high and they're focused on qualitative service for customers.
Another detail: they take your coat and help you put it on when leaving the place. It might seem like nothing, but it's cortesy that is not being seem everywhere nowadays.
Overall, I was very pleased with my dinner here, I'll come back for sure and will recommend it to my fellow foodies-friends.

This is a small place with a lot of loyal customers.
SERVICE is quick and friendly. The owner likes to know his guests and treats them well.
FOOD is an adventure, allow the chef to give you advice or thake the menu of the day
PRICE is very reasonable, certainly if you go for the menu of the day

We first had lunch here to test it, and it was much appreciaed, with a special mention for the fish cooked to perfection.
Following this good experience we then booked for 14 people
The Chef was very kind and accomodating in helping us set this evening up.
The group had the summer menu of 3 courses, (we asked the participants to choose their dishes in advance) and the food was very good
The setting is also very nice.

Let's start by saying that the food is proper portuguese, well prepared and presented. We had seafood mainly, and it conpares well with what you would expect to eat in a good restaurant in, say, Tavira. However, choice is very limited, wait is very long, wines are overpriced and space limited. Price, overall, a bit over Bxl standards. So, all in all, nice for a romantic evening, not for a family meal.

I was brought to this lovely Italian restaurant by a friend who lives in this neighbourhood. I was happily surprised when I entered, because there were a lot of Italian costomers enjoying their meal. What a good atmosphere. The food was as great as you get in Italy. Good quality ingredients, made with passion for good taste and looks. The service of the Italian staff was fast and lovely. They served good coffee with home made cookies. And the bill was very reasonable. I loved my evening at La Botte and when I'm back in Brussels, I'll have dinner here again. I'ts a 5 minute walk from Metro station Demey, and worth going to even from a different neighbourhood. I'm looking forward to my next visit!
