Open daily for lunch and dinner, 74 Restaurant is considered one of the best in Búzios. Located on one of the hotel's terraces, famous for its dazzling view of the ocean, the restaurant unites what is best and most sophisticated in haute cuisine. The menu offers a delicious fusion of Mediterranean Cuisine with local seafood and ingredients.
We stayed at Casas Brancas for three nights and after the first night that we ate here we decided to eat here every night. The food was just incredible. Probably the best ceviche I have ever had in my life. It was slightly pricey -...MoreDear Mandy. We kindly thank you for your comment. Huge range 80+ outstanding juices or combinations. Freshly made, welcomely chilled. Good prices, R$11-15 for 500ml. Sandwiches also perfect for a snack, eg tuna mixed with carrot and tomato was very tasty and the ingredients worked well together.
This was the only place I really enjoyed eating in Buzios; the others were way overpriced for food that was mostly substandard or saturated in sugar.
It is worth the 50m detour off the path between Praia Azeda and Buzios centre. Just behind pousada La Chimere.

On vacations in Buzios we stopped here to eat dinner. The meal was superb as was the waiter. We had "Chernia" (Black Grouper), grilled, with rice and a Basil sauce. As an entree we shared shrimps sauteed with garlic.
It was the best meal we had in the whole trip.

Anexo Praia is in Barra and is a great place to have a sunset cocktail and chill by the sea....Nice outdoor style setting - feet in the sand - with wi-fi and lounge music...attentive waiters as well. I have only eaten here a couple of times - seared tuna with mushrooms was good but mushrooms were too salty...sliders are a good pick. This is the place I would head for sunset then go for dinner in one of the many good restaurants in Barra....

"Rua das Pedras" is a must go in Buzios at night. We decided to visit Primitivo and we liked it. It's not an amazing food, but I liked lasagna a la bolognesi and the Italian style thin pizza.
My wife and son asked for a risoto with shrimp, zucchini and lemon but they didn't like that much. Next time we will try the gnocchi.
The atmosphere is good and was a good choice coming here.

A third visit to Juanito says a lot for this little gem situated in the Porto do Barra area of Manguinhos just ten minutes from downtown Buzios. The chef comes with top credentials having grilled steaks and other impeccable goodies at Cheval Blanc for many years until it's untimely demise. Service is always excellent and rearranging the tables for our party was no problem.
The menu has a Spanish flavor to it with an excellent tapas selection and other "petiscos", But
I go there for the steak though I am reliably informed that the fish (Cherne) is superbly cooked as are all the pasta dishes. The meat is Argentinian, perfectly cooked to order and undeniably succulent! But not cheap - a huge hunk of prime rib is not for the timid, it is enormous and so is the price - aboutUSD50!
The wine list is excellent but there are no bargains here. A moderately good Malbec set us back about USD40, though most of us drank the excellent local (well, sort of) beer, Therezopolis! An excellent, though hard to find Brazilian brew.
There are a host of "to die for" Deserts, that the chef has been doing for years. A great favorite of mine is the Mango Flambe (done with Cointreau!).
It's predominantly outside dining and the atmosphere is quiet and laid back, at least on the occasions we have visited, Well worth searching out!

Experiencias sensoriais. Tim, tim!
We booked at Farinatta off the back of TripAdvisor ratings and it didn't disappoint.
Our hotel arranged a taxi for us and I'm glad we didn't try to find it ourselves, as it's tucked away in a residential neighbourhood, behind a wooden gate with no signs. It felt a bit like being invited into a secret supper club. The garden and restaurant interior are small, but felt intimate without diners being on top of each other.
In keeping with the mystery, there were no menus. Everyone got the same entrees - a selection of delicious bread and savoury biscuits, accompanied by a variety of tapanades, roasted vegetables and the like.
The chef (and in our case, a translator) came out to explain what was available for the main course. It was a little difficult to follow, but in all honesty she had me at osso bucco, one of my favourite dishes. My husband opted for the prawns and linguine. Both were superb.
But a few words of warning: there's no menu, so you have no idea what it's costing you (there is a wine list with prices); it's not cheap (with a bottle of wine, dessert and coffees, our bill was about 700BRL): and they only take cash (which we weren't told in advance).
I'd still recommend it as a unique dining experience, with excellent food.
