We have been visiting this place through the years and we have always had a good experience. Fine beer and a friendly host.

Me and my family have eaten several times at Strandcafeen during the last 15 years. July 2014 being the most recent. It has not changed much during the years. The food is quite average and nothing out of the ordinarie. Its ok but don't expect anything more.
The surroundings are very nice with Skiveren being a very nice area. There is excellent mini golf and a beach in close proximity to Strandcafeen.

We had lunch here with visiting friends during the summer, when we could sit outside in the Terrace of the restaurant. Of course, we tried traditional Danish dishes such as open sandwiches with fried fish fillets, meat balls accompanied by the local brew. The service was quick and courteous and the food was delicious. The indoor restaurant was also very cosy with a nice ambience.

We were passing by, hungry, when we saw this restaurant and took the chance. It has a charming area outside. Service was very good, the waiter (maybe the owner) saw that we were a bit cold and came with blankets. We ordered 2 pizzas and 1 spaghetti bolognese. It was a great surprise when the food came - and it came fast - italian style pizzas, crispy and thin, and the sauce on the spaghetti tasted right (I'm italian). They have many choices for children. Safe and pleasant place to stop to eat if you are around Skagen with friends or children.

This is food you experience and walk saying, " that was worth the investment!" WOW. Portion sizes are more than one expects. The fish soup was extraordinary and filling! The mushroom toast...oh so good! Prefix... more than we needed but appreciated nonetheless. Go you won't be sorry.

Relax, the park is next door, food is tasty, beer is cold and prices are reasonable. We stopped and sat outside and just loved watching the harbor sipping my beer as my wife enjoyed her ice cream. Chocolate. A great summer time cafe. Tak!

My family walked into this place after a long day of driving. We were welcomed in a friendly way and were given a table (the last one available). The fact that it was full of Danish families was a good first sign: when Danes (or any other cultural/ethnic group) go to a restaurant that serves their own food, it's usually because they do it better than what one can have at home. Though the staff was not very fluent in English, they did their best, and speaking German was a big help too, as one of the waitresses, her first day on the job, was fluent in German. Being offered an English menu sure helped us understand what we were about to order. We each had something different (quite rare for us), including fish & chips for our youngest and something more daring for our eldest and ourselves: various fish dishes. In fact, they were all classic Danish fish dishes, but delivered in a visually stunning, mouth-watering way. It wasn't the cheapest place we could have eaten, but it was worth every kroner. It's the kind of restaurant that really sets the standard for what Danish food can be: traditional yet inventive, and above all, amazingly flavourful. No, it's not Noma, but it was delightful nonetheless.
A week after eating here, we went for lunch at the Hirstals Kro Restaurant in Hirstals, which was the exact opposite experience. Check out my review.
