Phantasialand

Phantasialand is a magical place with one of their kind and world record holding attractions for both small and great. Come and experience the six different themed worlds: Berlin, China Town, Deep in Africa, Fantasy, Mexico and Mystery have more to offer than you might think. Themed orientated snacks and restaurants are waiting for you. So are the several artistic, impressive and unique shows. For extra long andventurers you can stay in one of our two Hotels: Hotel Ling Bao in China Town and Hotel Matamba deep in Africa will show you the cultures of their world.

I've spent two days in the park with my girlfriend.
Good:
- all new areas and attractions are well designed and constructed, beautifully decorated and very thought out. They know their brands and materials.
- shows are all to be recommended, and there are plenty
- broad range of attractions for all ages
- their rollercoaster really do get some speed
- food is reasonably priced and of high quality, even when compared to non-themepark restaurants
- attraction waiting times are never too long (max 45 minutes on a busy day) due to German efficiency
- clean toilets
Bad:
- older attractions aged badly and maintenance has been neglected as well. Simply close attractions like the Hollywood Tour, it's well past its date.
- it's a pitty that they don't seem to invest in high potential zones like Wuze Town. It really could be something...
- shows are very entertaining, although the acting is... well, german; you know, little refined and sometimes even a bit clumsy
- communication is primarly in German. I understand that it's a German theme park, but lots of guests come from neighboring countries and we all have one common language, and that's English. Simply take English as your default language and everybody will understand and you don't have to translate everything to French, Dutch, Spanish, ...
I truly recommend this park next toppers like Disneyland Paris, Europa Park and Port Aventura.

Schloss Augustusburg

Reviewed By Rey M - Sarnia, Canada

Another must see attraction when visiting Cologne is the UNESCO Bruhl Augustusburg Palace. It was the estate residence of the prince-archbishop of Cologne. It illustrates the power held by the religious head of the church during the medieval times. The palace is elegantly impressive especially the rococo style architecture of the grand staircase. The rooms are very similar to the palatial residence of other European royalties. A good hour can be devoted to view the palace as well as the well maintained garden and grounds. Not all the rooms are accessible, but the guides were very informative and accommodating.

Schloss Bruehl

The inner design is beautiful specifically the staircase section. Don't get fooled be the exterior. BUT! there is no English tour ( you must go with a tour) there is a very much useless audio guide with dismal information and you have to stand in group and listen to someone talking in language you can't decipher. A bit of a torture. The staff are not friendly and rude sometimes.

Max Ernst Museum

Reviewed By DjangoDjango - Cologne, Germany

The museums exhibits works of the German painter and sculptor Max Ernst.
He is categorized as a surrealist.
The museum has a permanent exposition explaining his life and the evolution of his work during the years he lived.
Next to that the museum also has a great amount of temporary Exhibitions which attracts the greater crowd. Like present exhibition regarding Maurits Escher, or the last one regarding Tim Burton.
Overall I think the museum is only well worth seeing if you're interested in the temporary exhibition as well, or if you're a big fan of surrealism.
Another great possibility is to combine it with the 2 Unesco world heritage Castles right next door to have an awesome day in Brühl.

This small castle is just perfect! A little jewel, with lots of gorgeous details (look at the leather wall coverings in both garderobes for example!). And the outside proportions are just perfection. So is the walk to it.

This church is just behind the palace and we get inside just to see. We didn't know that the church was so magnificiently decorated. It is small, but the visit is worthy. The entrance is free of church, although the door was not easy to find.

Judischer Friedhof
