Jatiluwih Green Land

Nominated for designation as a UNESCO World Heritage site, Jatiluwih offers a beautiful view of contoured rice terraces irrigated using an impressive communal water system developed by Balinese farmers. The scenic drive through the quaint villages and verdant slopes of the central coastal regency of Tabanan adds to the experience.

We spent an hour here and had a good walk through the stunning scenery. Miles and miles of rice fields. There are longer walks but we were on a tour and had another place to go to.
The walk is not testing but the heat is more a factor. Take a hat and plenty of water.

Ulun Danu Bratan Temple

This lakeside temple was constructed in honor of Dewi Danu, goddess of the lake that was formed by a volcanic eruption 30,000 years ago.

Reviewed By ckluthe - Berlin, Germany

We were lucky to visit the temple with the local guide Gusti from Bali Nature Travels on day before Nyeti - Balinese New Year. Everybody prepared for ceremonies and we learned about culture. This temple is one of the sacred temples - each of them is special - this one is small but beautiful over the sea and worth to see. Gusti drove us a nice way on small Roads in the hills from Ubut. It is better to avoid main roads to see the beautiful nature.

Luhur Batukaru Temple

Luhur Batukaru Temple is one of Bali's key directional temples (Bali attractions) and a site of pilgrimage for Hindu Balinese. The Pura Luhur Batukaru lies in solitary clearing 1,300 meters above the sea level, all around the Batukaru temple you'll find a garden of flowering frangipani and hibiscus, with a gigantic, inhabited, humid tropical forest all around it. The impressive placed Batukaru is situated on the slopes of Mount Batukaru since the 11th century, which is an especially sacred site, even by Balinese standards. That's why all visitors have to carefully read and abide the temple rules posted clearly at the entrance. The temple is high on the slopes of the mountain and the often misty, drizzly micro-climate here just adds to its undoubtedly mystical atmosphere. Due to the cool climate and high rainfall (has the highest rainfall on Bali), the shrines in this temple are covered by moss

secluded temple close to the Terrace fields. Quite touristy but definitely worth seeing. Many areas are forbidden to the visitors (rightfully as it is for praying), but there is a lot to see.

Bali Botanic Garden

Bali Botanic Garden is Indonesia's largest Botanic Garden (157 hectares). Nestled in the cool mountainous region of Bedugul in central Bali (1300 metres above sea level), the Garden is an easy day trip, around 90 minutes' drive from Denpasar The sprawling garden is a mix of green open space, unique plant collections and tropical mountain forest set against the misty, green slopes of Tapak Hill. Discover Bali's biggest display of wild orchids, the largest begonia collection in the world, a magical rainforest trail, enchanting fern garden and dinosaur shadehouse, carnivorous plants, bamboo collection and much more.

The garden is just too large to be explored on foot. If you have a great deal of time to kill, there are a lot of good spots to choose for your picnic. A number of statues stand on some spots in the garden. There is also a greenhouse in which many species of desert plants thrive. At another point, you can view a beautiful lake, but I have no idea what lake it is.

What an awesome array of butterflies, flying around in a netted area.We went to the one in Tabanan as it is much quieter and away from the hustle and bustle and on our way to Bedugal.. Adults were 75000 ($7.50) You can enjoy and interaction with the butterflies and can have them on you however i didnt like the feel of the tiny claws on my skin but they can be put on your clothes. some very large ones too. They have an exhibition room which was quite amazing. If you love different species of butterflies and beetles they have them in window boxes to view, they have hundreds of them they also have some for sale and quite reasonably priced .

Balian Beach

Reviewed By TaliaRoo - Albuquerque, New Mexico

My family and I just stayed at Balian Beach for two weeks. It is a very quiet spot far away from the hustle and bustle of Central and South Bali. The east end of the beach was empty most of the time except for the locals flying their kites in the afternoons. On the west end of the beach the waves are bigger and the Surfers were having a great time. There are some Villas and a hotel or two, but it is a fairly small village. The beach front is about a 10-minute walk from the village market, post office, warungs, etc. We stayed on the east end of the beach at a lovely place called Alam Balian. Located on a hillside rice Terrace, there are three villas available for rent, as well as several very simple and small stilt house style rooms. It was incredibly affordable and we found the place through Airbnb. The owner, Wayan, totally spoiled us, cooking breakfast for us every day including eggs, toast, fresh fruit, Nasi Goreng, Mi Goreng, pancakes, etc. Wayan was also very helpful with transportation needs and recommendations for snorkeling on the North Coast, and things to do within about an hour or two drive. This was a nice place to have some quiet family time.

Belimbing Village

I visited this village when the weather is really bright, and it makes the view of Mount Batukaru seen among rice fields. Really beautiful. People who are farming in rice fields, the architecture of the building of accommodation, tracking route and Waterfalls are unique, they can be found here.
