An unfolding story as unique as our smooth and flavourful, triple-casked whiskey, Slane Distillery is housed within the 250-year-old stables of the iconic Slane Castle estate. The new distillery pays homage to the resilient nature of our heritage and the surrounding lands that we call home. Allow our storytellers to immerse you into our wonderful world of whiskey. The fabrics of the Conyngham family tapestry are carefully woven through an interactive and immersive tour of our state of the art working distillery. Finish the tour in the best way possible, with a taste of our signature triple casked blend, Slane Irish Whiskey.
Definitely worth a visit. The personal knowledge of and relationship our tour guide Flann had with the local area really made the tour. Will definitely be back to visit the two whiskey lounges (you can visit without doing a tour) I especially love the look of the converted stable.

A visit to many "secondary" sites such as as the The Hill of Slane impacts varied people so differently. For thrill seekers (some of whom are ioften enough n a bit of denial about their essential values), a Hill of Slane is no big whoop, even essentially a disappointing space filler or at best a been there, done that check-off.
For others, it's significant relative both BC and AD invoking the earliest Irish history both as a preChristian settlement from both Asia and the European continent (a number would yet call pagan) and as a core at the early roots of its long suffering religiosity era with as much myth and lore associated with Saint Patrick.
It's, for those so disposed, an atmospheric walk from the proximate fenced cow pasture small parking area (don't leave valuables in site anywhere anytime) across a moody tranquil field to the hallowed remains, burial grounds and yet another Statue of Padraig, whose origins and history are debated by some as much as those of Columbus.
With the hilltop vistas, bucolic trappings, classic cemetery, being situated in the throws of juggling epochs of historic significance, it's not difficult to feel a bit of awe and reverence atop the Hill of Slane -
for those so disposed.

Kids had an absolute ball here. The sunny day brought everyone out. They've got so much to do for families, farm animals (lambs, calves, goats, hens, pigs, turkeys, ducks etc), tractor rides, sandpit and water play area, maze, ride on tractors for kids, picnic area and restaurant. Well worth a visit. Staff are very friendly too.

We stopped in for lunch at Slane Castle after the tour of the adjacent distillery and were blown away by the quality of the food! The atmosphere was lovely; the snug in particular is very quaint and cosy, and the decor of the castle interior is beautiful. The food was delicious... I highly recommend the smoked hake dish, but the venison was also delicious. This meal far exceeded our expectations, and I would definitely stop in for lunch again.

We went on a fabulous guitar led Wednesday night jam; with a dash of banjo, bass and bodhran (Irish drum). The best of Irish pub culture; good craic, superb music, friendly faces and drinks galore!. This is what every 'Irish' bar from London to Boston...MoreReally glad you enjoyed your experience at Boyles!! Thanks so much for your review. Until next time! Andrew

Finally got to visit this humble abode and birthplace of one of our greatest poets.
One cannot be but moved by the story of Francis Ledwidge and the local guide was full of all the relevant facts and utterly passionate about preserving the cottage and his memory.
Don’t forget to visit the beautiful garden at the back of the cottage where a memorial has been built to exactly match the one placed at the spot in Belgium where we was so tragically killed, robbing our country of one of its most promising Literary geniuses.

Have just returned from a lovely time at Rock Farm. We stayed in one of the Shepherds Huts but there are lots of options including glamping. There are good communal toilets and showers along with a very well equipped kitchen. A lot of thought has gone in to what their visitors might need and from what other people said they were also really surprised and pleased with their accommodation. It is a great place for kids and families but with plenty of space in between the huts/tents/Yurts so you can have your own privacy. The view over Slane Castle is superb and you are within walking distance of Slane village where there are pubs/restaurants/shops. The whole area is well worth exploring and the staff at Rock Farm are really helpful and informative. I would definitely recommend it as an escape from everyday life, just unwinding and having quality time but with home comforts.

Recently I organised a hen party to stop off in Meath for an afternoon BBQ en route to Carrickmacross. I found Sally Gardens and all I can say is I'm chuffed I did! The pub is super cute and stands on its own not far from Slane. They have a new beer garden which is styled super funky and is a lovely sun trap. We had plenty of fab food for a very reasonable price and I must say a huge THANK YOU to Sean, Adrianne and all the staff who welcomed us with open arms and gave us just a brilliant experience. We especially loved the dance floor where we rocked a few moves with the staff before sadly leaving. What a day! I can't thank you all enough especially as I'm now clearly in the lead for 'best' bridesmaid considering I found Sally Gardens :) :) Thank you, thank you, thank you! Aoife
