Hanazono Niseko is located in the southwest corner of Japan’s northernmost island of Hokkaido, 850km north of Japan's capital city Tokyo. Niseko Hanazono Resort lies 1000 metres below the spectacular peak of Mount Niseko-Annupuri, offering you one vertical kilometer of stunning powder snow in the winter, and an unprecedented variety of activities during the rest of the year including golfing, Water Sports, MTB, eco-trekking and more.
If you are in Niseko Hirafu, try to get over to Hanazono. It's the best. Less crowded than Hirafu, with great runs from green to double black. Don't be put off only " one lift", three in a row. Traverse across after the swinging Monkey lift. Must have an All Mountain lft pass. Less options for lunch but the main lunch spot is great with 4ltr beer towers.

If you like powder, this is the place. After several gondola and lifts, you will get to slopes that are not groomed. From the last lift to the peak, you have to hike up there, but you will meet with fresh snow with no trails at all.
On a good day, it is wonderful, but the weather can change for the worst very quickly. With a snow blizzard/storm, they will stop the lifts and you can be grounded. No refund for your bought tickets, so it may be more beneficial to buy on a day by day basis when the weather is uncertain.
Even though the mountain is not that tall, but there are enough grounds to cover for a few days. So plan your trips accordingly.

My family has two boys, ages 7 and 11, who had a great time riding the snowmobile in tandem with my wife and I. We traveled into the forest and took scenic pictures. We also made snowmen and had snowball fights. We later rode a banana boat type of inner tube. They loved it! Fast friendly service. Fluent in Japanese, English, and Mandarin!! You ought to try it, esp if you want to have a different experience from skiing the whole time!!!

Our son lives and works in near by Niseko and has been here with his girlfriend on numerous occasions, so it came highly recommended. We visited on our last morning before flying back to Tokyo. Stunning garden in a stunning location, worth half an hour of your time if you in the area, and its free :-)

This is an nice easy Show Shoe walk around Lake Hangetsu. The circuit takes 30-60 minutes depending on your level of fitness.
Located near the base of Mt Yotei just off Route 5. The Carpark is about 1.5kn off Route 5, turn off left heading from Kutchan to Niseko town on the small road that also has the little Udon Noodle place about 2-3 km from the St Moritz Bridge 'T' intersection leaving Kutchan. No sign, but a small restaurant flag just before the turn off. Check google maps first.
There are toilets etc but they're closed in Winter.
You can walk from the carpark toward Mt Yotei and see the small lake after approx 300m which is frozen over in Winter. You can circle clockwise or anti-clockwise.
The walk around will not go to the lake as its sunk down well below the trail. Caution if you do go on the lake and best not venture there unless your are with someone who knows the area.
You will get nice views of Yotei through the trees, and wander through the nice forest. A please hour or two and easy intro level walk.

The Kutchan Natural History Museum is located opposite the Shu Ogawara Museum of Art. During my visit, I was the only visitor. There is a combined ticket for sale. Most write-up are in Japanese. The Shu Ogawara Museum of Art offered a cup of coffee after your visit which is kind of a novel idea.

北海道をドライブしていた際、ニセコ付近の鏡沼へ立ち寄りました。二つのルートが有ると聞いていたのですが58号線側から入るコースで行きました。自然にあふれたコースで、沼の景色は素晴らしいものでした。

It was interesting to spend an hour at this museum. There are exhibits about the local animals (like a small dark brown bear), birds, etc. Also exhibits about normal life in Kutchan area in before WWII, and after it- Rooms depicting family life in the 50's, 60s, 70's etc.
