Dangjin (Korean pronunciation: [taŋ.dʑin]) is a city in South Chungcheong Province, South Korea. It stands on the south shore of the Bay of Asan. Dangjin borders Incheon, Pyeongtaek, and Hwaseong by sea, and Seosan, Yesan, and Asan by land. Its name means "Tang ferry," and refers to the historic role of Dangjin's harbor in connecting Korea to the other side of the Yellow Sea. This role continues to be important in the city's economy, which relies on a mixture of agriculture and heavy industry.

There is birthplace of Andrew Kim Taegon, martyr. And there is Korean Catholic sacred place. This place was well-maintained and had very good atmophere. There had memorial hall, open-air theater, statue of Kim Taegon, and birthplace of him. This holy ground was not big size, but the atmosphere was very good. Though I don't belong to any religion, I love a place like this becasue the atmosphere was very calm and good.

The main structure is a short walk from the entrance of Doeksan Provincial Park. There are many places to explore in this temple complex (if there are no English maps/guides on the stand, ask in the office next to the ticket booth). This temple is one of the many Korean temples that offers the Templestay program.

The weather is warm when we went here. We enjoyed seeing the beautiful arts and I loved the coffee shop beside the museum. The beautiful interior the uniqueness of the place. :)

We stopped at this nice city park to enjoy the overlook of the Aneseong River estuary. While we were there, we had the great fortune of listening to a solo guitarist playing Korean folk songs. The very tidy park is adjacent to a maritime museum/dock with WWII warships, and is adjacent to a large fish market. The kids got a kick out of watching the vendors hawk crabs, clams, and eels. It was a nice cultural trip.

A site that is a reminder of how christianity was perceived in those days. Statues that explain what brutality the people were capable of.

It's set in a lovely landscape. And it's an OK stop on a trip through Yesan, but the local temples have more to offer. If you are interested in this hero from Japanese Colonial times, by all means, stop. There's a nice shelter to sit and have a snack.
