This is a wonderful small town with a very special old part complete with castle started in the 11th century. Spendid opportunities for strolls and exploration. The shop is just a delight. Not large but with a fine range of local wines, cheeses and meats it is just a delight. The sheep cheeses are the speciality. Do not miss it!

This castle is in a beautiful old village and well worth a wander and it is free of charge! There are fantastic views from the inside walls across a Panorama of countryside. After a walk in the castle there are a few little cafe type establishments which to refuel that are ultra cheap. Do walk through the narrow stone streets for the ultimate old Portugal effect.

Go there late in the afternoon. There will not be lots of people around and that architecture is amazing.

We stopped here for lunch on the way from Salamanca to Porto. It is a beautiful town with quaint windy streets filled with flowery balconies. Interesting Jewish history - lookout for Casa del Gato Negro on Largo Luís de Albuquerque (not far from the main square) as well as hidden menoras and other Jewish symbols. We had a great lunch at the museo restaurant with a lovely waitress who spoke excellent English.

I liked very much this place. I stayed in EcoResort ValeROssim (Yurts) and the Barragem is nearby. We see with snow but in the Summer we can pick a canoe and enjoy the Barragem. Loved the sunset in these place.

We came here to see the Cheese Factory but also stopped by the castle. It was nothing special. The views are good. But, there is not much left inside the walls.

There is not much in the Cheese Museum so it only takes a few minutes to look at the exhibits. However, we went upstairs and enjoyed the wine, cheese, and bread tasting. The melted butter cheese was very good. Celorico da Beira is a nice little town and we enjoyed walking through the old streets.
