Congratulations Cape Nature. You have truly got Rocherpan just right. The chalets are superb, clean and well maintained. Considering that these are all built with Eco in mind, they are amazingly comfortable. Don't let anyone tell that the water less toilets are gross!! They work well with no smell. There are 4 family units, all with views of the pan and 4 single room units. Everything that one would need is catered for, new kitchen equipment, indoor fire place, outdoor braai, swimming pool and superb service from all staff. They really go out of their way to make a stay enjoyable.
Attractions are of course the pan with water birds for the enthusiast Unfortunately for us the pan was dry - due to the drought in the Cape. But this should not put anyone off. There are still an amazing amount of other bird species to watch and photograph. We were also treated to seeing the most perfect Boomslang being mobbed by the Bulbul's, what a perfect specimen and really not perturbed by us.
Great walks on well marked trails - easy walking as the area is relatively flat. A beach that goes on forever, want privacy be the only footprints, this is a must. Don't miss out on the immaculate picnic and braai spots, and enjoy a perfect sunset drink from the lookout spot.
This reserve comes highly rated by us, and we will definitely be returning when the pan is full.
Keep up the good work Cape Nature

The spa is very small ...especially the couples room which is cramped. The music was loud for a relaxing massage. The massage oils need to be warmed prior to use especially in winter as the cold oil can leave you feeling more cold. The massage was good although 50 minutes is short for a full body massage.
A cosy coffee shop well located in the main street of Laaiplek. Serves fresh home baked cakes with a variety of light lunches. Breakfasts are just delicious at affordable pricing. Whilst there browse the adjoining rooms for arts and crafts. Worthwhile stop over when visiting the West Coast area and the venue is easily identifiable by the painted murals done by the owner artist.
