Situated along the west coast of South Africa, near Langebaan
An absolutely stunning spot. We were out early one Sunday meandering through the West Coast National Park watching the birds and wildlife, only to be raced passed by flurries of cars. As the road led nowhere we were surprised but at Kraalbaai it became obvious.
It’s a windfree beauty spot on the safe shallow lagoon where hoardes of gazebos sheltered families from the sun. Indeed there was an early massing at 9am!
Azure blue waters attract boaters and fishermen but the lack of parking and beach space means a threat to the local wildlife as trippers rush to claim their spot.
A tussle between tourism and nature which the park authorities need to address.
Houseboats and private yachts sit in the bay which was used by the flying boats if the RAF in WW2.

Nano brewery in the heart of the Langebaan village brewing small batch award winning beer. Pairs perfectly with people, food and music.
Hugo and Elmien are fantastic hosts. Their Black Eagle brewery offers a few exceptional beers with a good atmosphere and good snacks to keep everyone happy! Highly recommended to anyone with a passion for drinking great beer. It's almost like being in Germany.. :D

So much to do on this superb beach, the setting is spectacular and a perfect place to learn to kitesurf. Loads of places for food and drink just a short walk from the beach

To the casual traveller - and even the commuter using the Park roads as a short cut - it is easy to overlook the joys of this place.
Try arriving just after dawn. The animals are foraging and birds hunting. In just a few kilometres from the north entrance we saw a massive mole snake, a hovering black shouldered kite, grey mongoose, tiger tortoise, steenbok, Springbok, eland and numerous wildfowl from flamingoes and rock kestrels to curlews and kites. Each plays its own role in this unique ecosystem.
The views from the lookout points are stunning and diverse. And patience and persistence at the hides awakens an inner peace and harmony with nature.
Only humans spoil the simple perfection with their unique ability to create noise and litter.

We have a little 5 year old boy that experienced his first big water slide at the park and if you asked him about Sunny park he would rave about it. For me it was a good experience but there where a few things like the general condition of the activities that can be sharpened up but I would visit again as it is a blast for young kids

This mall, unlike the West Coast Mall, is a single-storeyed complex which covers a large area. Parking facilities seem adequate but the interior design leaves a lot to be desired. Poor use is made of natural light and I felt the mall was dark and this feeling was intensified by the number of empty shops with their rolled down shutters!
Apart from the standard anchor retailers there were one or two interesting shops but this is not a place I would readily return to!
