It's not every day you can sleep over at a mouldering monastery out in the countryside, stroll the cloisters, and sing the hours with an active community of Cistercian monks. But a stay in the Hospederia of Sobrado offers all this, as well as clean, orderly accomodations in an updated quarter of the sprawling complex. Day-trip tours are easier -- just show up at the Porter's gate in the morning or late afternoon. Pilgrims with credentials can stay in the rather dark, dank albergue (kitchen facility), but there is no food service. Booking a room in the hospederia requires an email or a phone-call ahead of time, and the 70 Euro charge for a double seems steep for the market... until you factor in the extraordinary extras! Do not arrive between 2 and 4.30, these guys take their naps seriously.

Small church located on a nice town square of trees, shade and small statues. Worth a quick stop if it is open.
