VINSEUM (firstly known as Museu de Vilafranca) was founded in 1934 with the aim of bringing together different collections related to the Penedes region. The permanent exhibition at the VINSEUM is dedicated to the vineyard and wine, and the close connection these have with the Penedes region and Catalonia. The journey starts on the third floor of the Royal Palace and ends with a cava or wine tasting in the tavern of the museum.. VINSEUM will take you on a journey through the stories of wine, to rediscover the footprints it has left us, from its origins to the present time, from the land where the vine stems to the sensorial explosion of wine tasting. Come and experience!
We spent an hour here and did not manage to see everything. It is largely concerned with wine making in the region and as this is such an important aspect of Catalunya we found it added to our enjoyment of our stay, which, it had to be admitted, did involve quite a lot of sampling of and finding out about the local produce.

We came for a short visit and enjoyed the wonderful outside as well as the great inside. It looks smaller from the outside than the inside and we were really impressed with the wonderfully colored windows.

Vilafranca is not only famous for its wines, but also for making human towers! This is a statue of a human tower in Placa de Jaume I which is cool to see.

My husband and I traveled to France and Spain during our trip and this was the most memorable experience that we shared during our travels - well worth the quick drive from Sitges or Barcelona. I emailed the winery at the last minute and Xavier quickly responded with an appointment to tour the winery that afternoon. Our family of six arrived early and they kindly accommodated us. We were quickly greeted by Xavier and he welcomed us with a wonderful glass of sparking rose. We have all traveled extensively and have spent much time in California, Oregon and France wine country….this was a unique and special experience that we will all remember forever. The winery process utilized by the wine producer is a perfect combination of family tradition and new age technology. Their property expands over many buildings and they use bio-dynamic and organic care in their production. You could feel the passion and Xavier's wonderful sense of humor was a perfect touch to an excellent tour. Not only was our two hour experience educational (including the various processes and even barrel tasting), but it was also a very personal experience - not to mention the wines were also absolutely beautiful and very inexpensive. We now just need to figure out how to get it all home with us!
I would highly recommend reaching out to Pinord and scheduling a tour and tasting. We will be back the next time we visit this gorgeous area of Spain.
