An exceptional park once owned by a maritime nobleman from the Scaramanga family. It contains 198 interesting tree species and several hundred species of exotic potted plants from all corners of the world. You can also visit the palmarium and the herbarium, and geological and archeological Exhibitions.
You can easily miss this attraction. Exit from highway and drive slowly to Sežana. Park just behind new modern building “Občina”. An interesting park without entrance fee is just behind the modern architecture (some steps). You will find some interesting old trees, an old glasshouse, a part with cut hedge, an average Fountain. It is not Versailles but it can be compared with any smaller garden around Trieste and is the best on Carst. You can proceed to Štanjel (Ferrari garden). Usually there are no tourists and you will walk alone from one side to the other in less than an hour.

We were greated by the lovely Nina and started off by tasting the grape juice and getting a tour. It was really a great experience. Afterwards we tasted different wines and liquor in their cellar, accompanied cheese and meat. The explanation was great, clear and complete. We had a wonderful time and would recommend this to anyone.

With typical karst features such as karst dolines, uvalas, sinkholes, grikes, abysses, and of course, underground caves, the living museum of Karst area, which extends over 700 hectares, is defined as ecologically important area and its larger part belongs among the Natura 2000 sites. For almost a half of a century, the area was closed to the public. It represents the natural and cultural heritage of typical Karst and it covers the area between Sezana, Lipica and former Slovenian-Italian border, along the axis connecting the old Austro-Hungarian road Sezana - Bazovica. Thematic and cross-border recreational trails are constructed under the auspices of the museum, with marked points of interest. They also implement changes to protect biodiversity of the area. Free map of The Karst Living Museum is available in tourist information centers of Sezana, Dutovlje and Lokev.
