We are regular visitors to the beach and the walks on the beach are fantastic. For a fun day out we often take a packed lunch and walk Narin strand, over the golf course, across Castlegoland beach and to the end of the third. Make sure the tide is out if planning this. You may also run into wild horses on the third beach but they are friendly.
On a nice day when the tide is in there is a great spot not far from the rocks at the end of the beach. The waves are better in this part of the sea and the kids really enjoy going body boarding/surfing.
Another great trip is to Inniskeel island which can be accessed when the tide is low. Just make sure you keep an eye on the tides so you do not get stuck there!
Don't forget also to stop into the seaside cafe for a 99!

Narin & Portnoo is a Par 73 Championship Links Course, in south west Donegal. One of the most natural links courses in Ireland with stunning views of the Gweebara Bay and a unrivalled hole variety. Considered by Philip Reid as one of the "great eight" courses of Ireland it is a course that every golfer should play at least once.Visitors are welcome to play the course and avail of the bar/resturant facilities in the newly renovated clubhouse which all combine to create a truely memorable day.
Narin & Portnoo is out of the way but if you are visiting the Slieve League Cliffs ,it is worth the diversion. The clubhouse/pro shop are welcoming and served us well after a windy round.
The first few holes are not very interesting but the rest of the course was in the dunes with 3 par 5's in a row being an unusual. design feature.
I played here to round out playing all the links courses of Ireland ..Narin & Portnoo is a quality course but in the mid range of Irish links

Really enjoyable experience here stopping in to see St Conall's bell which was on display for just a day or two. The coffee shop was also open with some tasty treats. Thanks to all involved for a great experience.

Went for a few pints to watch the GAA. Good old fashioned Donegal pub with great pints, beer garden and family friendly atmosphere. Check it out.

This place used to serve the best fish and chips that money could buy, but we have found the kitchen closed on a couple of occasions and ended up eating elsewhere, which was a pity. Nice pint of Guinness here in front of the turf fire. Pool table, dart board and sports on the big tv are also good attractions. Large car park too.
