Dragon Archery is North Devon's premier archery activity. We are advanced booking only, so call today to book your adventure.
A group of us, seven friends, recently booked a session at Dragon Archery as we were staying in the local area. Most of us were expecting to just have ranged 'bullseye' style targets to aim at and just given a bucket of arrows to get on with - we could not have been more wrong!
Andy and the team have really put a lot of effort into making this a stand-out experience. There are a series of different setups, each progressing in difficulty. We had one-to-one tuition teaching us about the relationships between the bow/aiming/range etc. This was for each setup, not just an induction.
The setups themselves were great fun. The humour and detail of each target range, along with the tastefully themed rooms and soundscape was very well thought out and added immensely to the enjoyment of the experience.
We spent a few hours at the centre, and never felt rushed. The staff were all highly knowledgeable and helpful.
Another nice touch was that complimentary refreshments and snacks were available. Infrared heaters were available for colder days too.
Our group was a real mix of abilities, aged 30-40, but the team are set up for all ages and abilities. This would make a great day out for friends, families and colleagues alike.
If I'm in the area again, I would definitely book in.

Lizzy opened the award winning farm shop in her little larder in 2002. The business has steadily grown and her new shop at Blackberry Farm is surrounded by farmland and has stunning views of Dartmoor. We also conduct farm tours. Lizzy is passionate about food and together with Gillian they cook much of the delicious fayre served in the tearoom and sold in the shop.
Lizzy's Larder is a welcoming rest place with great "homemade" food from local sources. Generous portions and the walk around the working farm goes some way to utilising the calories. Great place for townies with young children as all the animals are use to being the centre of attention aren't shy with visitors. Visitors can eat first and then visit the animals or vice versa. Some rough pathways for wheel chairs that may take a rugged engine pushing!

Our Golf Society visited Holsworthy GC , First time for me. Fantastic Course, greens were challenging (in a good way) Fairways excellent. Only complaint too many trees ;) I got really friendly with them LOL
To finish the day off, a cracking roast.

Stopped for an impromptu lunch, not been in here for at least 20 years. Very pleasant surprise and lovely food well cooked, well presented and plenty of it.

This a nice little local museum, free entry and displays of bits and bobs from the area's past - in addition to the typical collections of agricultural tools & equipment and old household & cooking items etc it also had a display of musical instrument maker's planes (including a few that were barely an inch or two long) and even some artwork from an old local POW camp.
