Tomaree National Park

It is maybe a km walk and climb up stairs to the lookout. The lookout from memory is 161 ft above sea level and offers an amazing view along the coast line and back inland over Nelson's Bay. Definitely worth the effort.

Fingal Bay Beach

Reviewed By sunday9987 - Brisbane, Australia

This is one of the loveliest Beaches in the Port Stephens area. At the most, it is 10 minutes drive from the Nelson Bay CBD.
Access to the spit to Fingal Island ONLY AT LOW TIDE is also from this beach.
There are no shops around the beach, just residential houses so bring your own food and drink. There is a public restroom block in one of the parks nearby.
The sand here is soft. It can also be windy here.
This is also a patrolled beach at certain times of the day.
Definitely worth a visit. and don't forget to bring your camera.

Point Stephens Lighthouse

Reviewed By Mark B - Nelson Bay, Australia

Crossed the spit at low tide about 5 weeks ago without getting my feet wet. Great walk out to the lighthouse with the ruins of the lighthouse keepers cottage a highlight. WARNING - storms and big seas have now made the crossing of the spit extremely dangerous, even a low tide. It may take several months before it can be safely crossed again.
