The largest city in Switzerland is a major contemporary art and shopping destination. Important artworks are displayed in the Kunsthaus and the Rietberg Museum, while those who consider shopping an art can hone their skills along Bahnhofstrasse and Niederdorf. Chagall's stained glass windows in the Fraumunster amaze and Zurich's 500 clubs and bars, including several in swimming pools, pulse with life 'til the early hours. Old Town (Altstadt)

Zürich's historic section features cobblestone streets, a variety of small stores and restaurants and many of the city's most significant religious landmarks.

Reviewed By Sundncr - Washington DC, District of Columbia

The old town is just across the river from the main train station in Zurich. It is convenient to find a hotel and catch a train in the morning. There are many restaurants from different cuisines and night clubs. I noticed many adult night clubs for this area. One can walk along the middle streets, people watch and just stroll to spend the time. The area seemed fine and safe. Did not see much of a police presence though. The hotels prices seemed reasonable for Zurich. Beware though, the prices are pretty high in Zurich compared to many places in Europe. Just the way it is. But, it seems tipping is not expected, which makes the prices a bit less pricier.

Lindenhofplatz is a nice quiet park, overlooking the city; where Rietberg Museum is located.

The Lindenhof is a hill in downtown Zurich. In fact, the place was a Celtic fort, later turned into a Roman military camp (Turicum), from which sprang the city of Zurich. Enjoy the view over the Limmat River and onto the Univiersity and ETH buildings.

The popular nationwide excursion destination wants to get people interested in animals and encourage them to play an active role in nature conservation and the protection of species.

My son and I visited this zoo soe years back on several occasions (including a birthday party) and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Recommended as a day trip for young children while visiting Zurich. Tram stops very close to entrance. Be prepared to spend the day on your feet... Don't miss the bat-house and march of the penguins in the midst of visitors (at specific hours only).

Decided to go to the museum because it was free entrance. attached to the Zurich university, is a nice, neat, interactive and complete, for its size, display of animals. For tourism purposes the problem is that everything is in German, so if you don’t speak the language it only remains see the museum but not interact or inform.
