This was a great beach, we went in October and it was not crowded at all. The water was warm and very clear, did some snorkling and found a few fish. But the water was so clear, we actually were just pointing out fish around as we were in the sea. There are a couple bars on the beach to get a quick snack or a beer.

Cala Pira

Reviewed By chocdikrab - Frankfurt, Germany

the cala pira we discovered on a early sunny latespring afternoon and we were enchanted about the beauty of the place. because we were in south Sardinia in the end of may the highseason wasn´t start and so we had this beautiful place for us alone. the water was calm and shined in different shades of blue and green. the bay is a mixture between a sandy and a stoney part and big rocks are located unregulary in the water. an old sarazene tower overlooks the whole scenery and gives the bay a very secure appearance. The beach slopes gently down to the sea and cala pira is a perfect place for families with small children. also the vegetation is very interesting and it make a lot of fun to explore the pine forest up to the sarazene tower from which we had a breathtaking view over the bottled bay. during the whole afternoon there was only one more visitor, it was a very relaxed afternoon till to the sunset, but we think during high season there will be a lot of more tourists. a still closed Beach Bar gave us that idea. we can recomment cala pira very much. the visit was one of the highlights during our trip through south Sardinia.

To start with the inconvenient stuff - one toilet for each gender on entire beach....regularly cleaned and attended so you can always get the 50c you need to operate. Not that busy which begs the obvious question as to what others are doing.......
Couple of beach bars hiring chairs at 30 euros for 2 chairs + umbrella ( in Sept, more in high season). Limited lunch menus, the one we went to had sold out of virtually all hot dishes. It also, being at south end, loses the sun earlier so pick the more central beach bar if you want to hire chairs, and get a better lunch selection. Neither have their own toilets.
Otherwise public area very good and you can still get snacks at the beach bars anyway.
Sand is okay, very soft and a kind of off grey. It's not white sand. Water is crystal clear and very gently shelving so good for kids.
Great highlight is to walk to the lagoon at the end of the day to see the flamingos.
Parking 3 euros well worth it to avoid a long walk.

Vanity Beach Solanas

Me, my wife and my 5 yrs old daughter went here for a month during our staying in Solanas, a small town near Villasimius. We really enjoyed it: cheaper than anywhere else in Sardinia (10 euros for 2 chairs and an umbrella, you get to use them all day), this place has amazing staff and a very good bar. Restaurant could be better because the location is breathless, but the owner doesn't believe in late closing... You can bring your own food and drinks and have them on the beach or go into the bar and have there drinks, cocktails, ice creams, salads or sandwiches. Staff is great, kind and cute, always ready to do their best to make you feel happy. There's also a good children playground next to the bar (parents must watch their own children), where my daugther loved to hang out with her new little friends! We met a lot of people that come here from many years, I now know why!! We really loved it here and plan to go back soon, we will definitely come here again on our next trip.

I have been visiting this beach for over 10 years and it is truly spectacular, parking is pay per stay but good value and accessible. Only bar here though is for the st elmo beach club residents so you need to take your food and drink with you although there is amini market near the car park. shallow clear waters which are safe for familes with small children....and a variety of Water Sports and hire craft are available. only downside are the ever increasing umbrella and sun loungers that are blighting the landscape

Great beach with good beach bar, umbrellas and seats for rent. We just took our own umbrella and stayed on the right hand side looking at the beach.
Tip: come late afternoon only and stay until 7pm or even 8pm, the beach will be almost empty and you have the place for your own!

Area Marina Protetta Capo Carbonara

Reviewed By Livia Doina S - Bucharest, Romania

Very close to Villasimius, a small town on the south coast, Capo Carbonara has few little, typical Sardinian Beaches, and rocky Islands scattered around the sea. You can either take a boat or hike on the hills near the marina in Vilassimius. The landscape is beautiful, but similar to the rest of Sardinian coast. It is nice to spend a couple of hours there and enjoy the views or sunbathe. However, it's not exceptional when compared to other similar areas.

We made our way to this gorgeous, beach with coves, boulders, and some protected pebbly, sandy areas. The water is crystal clear. It was rather windless when we went and Porto Sa Ruxi offered some protection from the wind. The area makes you feel like you are an explorer. A must see!

Punta Molentis

Reviewed By paulm2101 - UK

Visiting in mid September on a Sunday the beach was busy but not manic. Toilet available with a cleaner present. Beach bar and restaurant (very good). Parking 5 euros a day with a 10 minute walk to beach. Super clear water in a lovely sheltered bay, very gently shelving. Probably our favourite beach in the area but in high season I would think an early start is needed.
Sunbeds for hire at about 20-25 euros.
Only downside apart from walk was a strong rotten eggs smell at times - giving it the benefit of the doubt perhaps that was something to do with the heavy overnight rain and not usual.
