Villa Carlos Paz (locally [ˈbiʝa ˈkarlos ˈpas]) is a city in the center-north of the province of Córdoba, Argentina, in the south of the Punilla Valley, lying on the western slope of the Sierras Chicas. It has a population of about 56,000 as per the 2001 census [INDEC]. The area of Punilla is a major tourist destination on the national level, and Villa Carlos Paz is in turn the most important city of Punilla, favoured by its closeness (36 km (22 mi)) to the populous Córdoba City, the capital of the province. Popular tourist activities include bathing in one of the many rivers, fishing, evening shows, kite surfing, windsurfing, hiking and mountain biking.

100 Curvas Que Subes Por La Sierra Con Vista A Zona De Embarcaciones Y Paisajes Visuales Del Lago
Although the start of this drive out of Carlos Paz is a little tricky to find we managed it and enjoyed the drive. The homes along here are more upmarket and the views are good.
Just a pity about the litter at some of the view points.

My wife and I walked up before our 0930 breakfast. Beautiful to see the sun rising over Villa Carlos Paz. Probably took about 1-1.5 hours depending, as I stop to take photos it is hard to say. It is a climb, but gradual. Make sure you walk past the chair lift/cable cars (which is on you right if you keep walking up the road) and the track heads up the ridge on the left of the end of the street.

My wife and I found out about the park from Lonely Planet. Like much of their info, it is casually written without much accurate detail. We would recommend taking an ERSA bus from T2 at Cordoba Bus Station. Buy a ticket at the booth opposite bay 50. At present the ticket costs $110 one way for the 3 hour ride to La Pampilla. Don't get nervous, just tell the driver where you're going and he'll stop. Walk into the park about 2km and register with the helpful staff. The walk is then approx another 6km to the cliff edge where hopefully you'll see some condors! We saw about half a dozen today. There are 10 x km markers on the route but they are spaced a little closely together! You can also camp in the park, and fly fish in the river if you buy a permit. You walk out the same way you came in and wait for a bus back to Cordoba. It's very easy and well worth DIY. A guided excursion costs nearly 5x as much and there is no need for it. If you're lucky the driver will stop at the condor centre a few km before La Pampilla on your outbound trip and you can buy water and look at the art, models and photos. Overall a lovely day out!

My friend and I stumbled upon is this off-the-beaten path Lake outside of Cordoba, Argentina. We found Argentinians enjoying life on this beautiful lake. As seemingly the only Americans for miles around, we caught a glimpse of Argentinian families enjoying an evening walking by the lake, playing soccer, relaxing, and otherwise enjoying life. It is a tranquil lakeside village, not commercial in the least.

Park just before you reach the dam wall and walk from there. There are restaurants and tourist shops. The drain hole is huge and scary! Lake views are good.

Unica e historica aerosilla de Villa Carlos Paz
Although it's quite expensive I would advise people to do this as the views are quite breathtaking and it is a very different way of getting up the mountain; on a chair in the open air. Go up during the day time when the sun isn't too low in order to get the best photos of the city. There are also a variety of activities to do when you are up the mountain so don't leave it too late to go up.
