i was fortunate enough to be involved in a medical Mission in peñablanca, cagayan just a week before Christmas. and our assembly place? the grounds of this minor basilica in piat. the Church was majestic enough to entice you to come inside and ask for divine intervention. its structure reflects a sturdy design that can withstand the tests of nature and time.
it is home to the black virgin mary, the Our Lady of Piat, which dress and feet the pilgrims can touch, depending on the size of one's hand. they say a whispered prayer to God through her intercession is almost tantamount to a granted wish.
this Church is known as the pilgrimage center of Northern Luzon. not everyone is privileged enough to get here. so savor every moment you spend here.

The catherdral is imposing. Understandably huge, being at the capital of Cagayan Valley and the default nerve center of culture and religion. The door is interesting for its detail. Easy to access as it is in the center of Tuguegarao City

dubbed as the 2nd longest bridge? How to get here from Cathedral just ride a tricy for Php10 but drivers might charge you for capacity so Php40 for the whole tricy.

The Province of Cagayan has several important religious landmarks. In Tuguegarao City, there is the Ermita de San Jacinto. To casual passersby, it just an ordinary if not obscured structure. But it is replete with history. The seed of Catholic faith can be traced here.

Went there to visit callao cave, the 7 chambers. But it was raining so we the floor was slippery, we only got to 5th chamber. On the way up was a little bit tiring but it was worth the trip. The entrance of the cave was amazing. The tour guides were kids/teens allowed and trained by the tourism there to act as guide.

We had no expectations at all for this place as we gave not heard about it before. We went due to a recommendation by a family friend. It was a reasonable distance from the city.
Surprisingly, there are a lot of activities for each member of the family. There is a cable car and zipline, horseback riding, mini zoo, bird sanctuary, wall climbing and the like. Of course, we went to the highlight which was the caves. We were assisted by volunteer tour guides as in Callao Cave. Similar to Callao, the volunteers were local youtg. We were assisted by Leslie and Buboy who were about 11 years of age. The cave was 142 steps away and the climb was relatively easy. The cave however, did not have any lights inside unlike in Callao. So we only relied on the flashlights of our guides. Fortunately, there were almost no puddles and steep climbs so as long as you watch your step, you would be okay. We entered 3 caves, the main cave, moon cave and altar cave, all of which had stories of their own as or guides explained. Then, after the caves, we walked 200+steps in the forest to get to the mini zoo.
The mini zoo had tigers, wild boars, monkeys, civet cats, crocodiles and snakes so it was good enough for the kids.
The teens tried the zipline for 250 pesos. Horseback was 10 pesos per round.
Unfortunately, we were not able to go to the Waterfalls due to lack of time. There were only 3 sari sari stores which offered snacks and refreshments.
It was a good experience all in all.

This is one of the best Churches I have ever seen in life. Bright, white, circular in design, the French designer was able to capture the essence of peaceful spiritually in it's midst.

Dropped by the Cagayan Provincial Capitol in Tuguegarao City while doing a city tour and I just had to take a photo of this clean and imposing structure which is colonial in design.

This used to be one of my fave malls during my College years. It's a small 2-storey business complex but filled with known brands such as PENSHOPPE, Jolibee, Greenwich, Max's Restaurant and Chowking.
