For people that takes interest in healing plants and vegetation in general this is an interesting place to visit. It is amazing to read all the signs and see what the plants are good for and it is very inspiring.

We visited the park at Tranekær castle in July, and we can really recommend it. The park invites to a stroll around the lake (3-4Km). Along the path, and especially if you take some of the small detours, you can study 60-70 different tree sorts. Many of which are not native to Denmark.
They're numbered and described in a little guide you get at the entrance. It's a modest fee to get in. Also spaced out in the park are a number of works of art from different artists. Look up TICKON on Internet.
Tranekær International Centre for Art and Nature.
When you exit the park, there's an interesting little cafe on the opposite side of the road, with home baked cake, buns and jam.
DO NOT MISS the so-called Medicinal Gardens. Follow the little road opposite the entrance to the park. The road is right next to the parking lot.
A group of volunteers have received funding to create a number of 800m2 large Gardens containing medicinal plants. The plants are grouped by their function. The first 2 Gardens are done at the time of writing (July 2013). There's a voluntary fee of 20,-DKr to enter, but it is well worth it.

Sweet old mill. Very friendly staff. Reasonable prices in the simple cafe attached to it. The whole thing including coffee can be done in 20 min, so drop by if you're in the area, but don't make it your day trip to get here.

The harbor is nice, but when you walk further up north you arrive at the beach. In this area you can walk up to the steep beach slopes and experience the nature.

The shop is below the red castle and fits perfectly in the environment. The shop itself is not very large or interesting but the location and settings are beautiful.

An interesting "art installation" in the beautiful grounds of Tranekær's impressive manor house/castle. There are a number of works by a selection of landscape artists, many of which are absolutely beautiful, while other are quite thought provoking. I've visited here a number of times over the last twenty years, and I must admit that a number of instillations are beginning to look a little worse for wear. While it could be argued for some works that this is simply due the natural cycle of events, and is part and parcel of the installation, others just seem a little neglected. All in all well worth a visit if you are in the area.
