Thrissur is regarded as the cultural capital of Kerala, a beautiful coastal region of southwest India with a history deeply rooted in the spice trade. For an exercise in absolute serenity, schedule an overnight houseboat tour of the local backwaters. If you’re lucky enough to visit during the temple festival of Pooram, you’ll experience lively music performances, fireworks, shadow puppet shows and processionals of beautifully adorned elephants.

Dedicated to Lord Krishna, this temple is one of the two main participating temples at the Thrissur Pooram. Also alongwith, you can find Ganesha, Hanuman, Devi and Dharmasashtha here.
There is an elephant inside the temple and also the architecture is traditionally Kerala style. There is a break from 11am till 5pm though, I guess.

A nice attraction in Thrissur...walkable distance from Thrissur round...you can visit both the Church and the tower...lift is available to go to the top (20 Rs pp) but for getting down you have to use the staircase..there is a collection of bibles from different parts in India and even the world...nice to see the display of the holy books in different languages...beautiful views from the top ...while getting down, nice paintings of Jesus and his miracles are on display along the staircase...you wont regret the visit...even if you are of any other religion, consider it as nice spot and appreciate the architecture and collection...Asia's tallest tower !

The Vazhachal Waterfalls is not just a huge waterfall where water cascades from a height but the water gushes along the steeply inclined rocks where the danger is hiding behind the beauty of the water and the forest. You can see rocks protruding in the milky water and giving a feeling that it is easy to walk over it but the force of the flowing water, slippery rocks covered with moss and the crevices under the rocks make it dangerous. It is a great place to sit and watch the water flowing, enjoy the beauty of the scenic forest, look for rare birds etc. Because of the casualties in the past, the area is well fenced and guarded and the guards will warn not to venture into the water. I have been to Vazhachal several times and last month too I made a short visit and I think one will never get fed up with visiting and enjoying the beauty of Vazhachal.
