From the outside, this home does not look much. Or so I thought.
Upon entry, one will immediately see how well thought out this home by the owners was. The owners were not only wealthy but were sophisticated and tapped the best in Philippine craftsmanship having hired the best from Pampanga and Paete. They were brought all the way to Negros...in the 1880s. Wide and long narra and kamagong wood were used for their floors. A rarity in today's homes.
I noticed also how some of the Filipino traits today existed even in the 1880s. For example, how the family uses the more expensive and best cutlery and China "pambisita" ... when there were special guests from out of town. Also, how the better food and beverages were served for the the more important guests. And also Feng shui were already known and practiced in the Philippines by some families. And many more.
I could not help relate Jose Rizal's Noli Mi Tangere to this house. One must visit this home.
The guide, Reggie was very good in narrating stories of the family.

This famous church dates back to the early Spanish colonial era.
Nice church to drop by for a quick prayer and a nice interior with scenes from the Bible painted on the ceiling. Generally good to go on a weekday when the crowds are not there to pay your respects to the child Christ .
Bag checks is discriminatory and they seem to be checking only the bags of tourists . Plan to spend about 25-30 minutes here together with a quick drop by the magellan cross site.
Cebu city is not exactly loaded with great sights so the visit to the church is okay.

I made a reservation online a week before, it was fine. But, I suddenly need to change the date so I can accommodate a request of my son to travel earlier. I tried all their contact numbers published on their site and it was very hard to call them. I was able to get through in one of the mobile number after countless tries, however, I was given a run around by their employees. I was told to call another mobile number which no one answers. I tried to call back but I was told someone from their online reservation department will give my a call back. Waited for hours and hours and they never did. I called back again that same number but no one was answering.
Something tells me this is not a good place to stay, although I paid for the 2 nights booking, I felt there is something wrong in this place so I decided to stay somewhere else.
I would never recommend this to anyone. They need improve their reservation process first before I will ever try this place again. If they can't return a simple call, what else could gone wrong, maybe everything.

This cave is not in a remote location, it's even about 10 minutes away from the road. There are two things you can do here, take a shower in the Waterfalls located in the lower right of the cave entrance and take a shower in that Waterfalls located at the end of the cave.
Yes, you read that right. There is a Waterfalls located at the end of the cave.
From the entrance, it's about 20 mins walk before you reach the end. Several years back, I had to crawl and climb as the path was narrow and full of obstacles. It was really an adventure. Now the path has been made easy, they removed the rocks and made stairs so first timers will no longer have to crawl and climb rocks. It's ok but personally they should have left it as is.
Getting inside means you have to have good lights with you. Way back before, we used to carry candles with us. Not a good idea. When you reach near the end of the cave, there will be a moderately strong wind because of the Waterfalls. Lights out for you.
BTW, it's not Lagtang Cave, It's Igotan Cave. You can ask motorcycle riders or the jeepney drivers to drop you off the Igotan Cave drop off.
There is an entrance fee of 20 pesos per person.

Having been turned on to this location through Trip Advisor, I was pleasantly surprised by the attached museums which provided some context to the building's place within Cebu's history. If you have a strong imagination you can picture the home in its glory days. Definitely worth a visit.

Though it is not as old as those that is seen in the City of Cebu, yet this church exudes elegance and beauty. Strategically situated, and best seen from the crossroad.

One of the oldest residential structure in the Philippines.
Stopped by after the Heritage of Cebu monument since it was just down the road. The house is very old, about 300 years old, and made entirely of wood, most of which is the original.
The entrance fee comes with a guided tour around the house. Unlike other places with antiques, you are encouraged to look around, take photos, and literally feel the history of the house.
The house is filled mostly with family photos, religious artifacts, and antique wooden furniture. There is also a garden on the side which is small but does have a well and benches.
A really unique place to visit. Just be aware that there is no air con so it does get quite hot in there.

This cave is a wonder. It might not be narrow but its center piece is an opening on top of the cave cellar which water falls strongly which could ease the pain of your back after a 20 minute trek from the opening of the cave. Locals should preserve the beauty of this wonder.

If you are into history and want to learn more, this is a great museum. The guided tour is free if you want it so you only pay the entrance fee. I had two student girls as my guides, they were still learning but very sweet. I was able to ask them more general questions about the Philippines and their veiws on the country. There are labels on nearly all the displays in English. The museum is made up of a number of areas and rooms. It's not overwhelming so you don't get tired. There are souvenir shops as well. My only negative is that quite a few of the items were replicas and not the originals. The originals were in other museums. None the less, would recommend. It's in a randomn location on a busy road so get a taxi. The girls were really nice and helped me get a taxi when we were finished. Spent just over an hour there at a leisurely pace.
