Soma Bay is a coastal resort on the Red Sea in Egypt, 45 km south of Hurghada International Airport. The ten million m², self-contained community of Soma Bay is a peninsula surrounded on all sides by the sea. About 5 km in length and 2 km wide, the peninsula is accessed via a 7 km private road through a single controlled entry gate.

Having previously dived several times from Sharm el Sheikh, this was our first visit to Hurghada and idive Makadi Bay center. I would definitely recommend it to everyone who wants to either learn how to dive or who wants to make diving trips. The staff is superfriendly and experienced, the equipment is in very good condition and best of all you pay for all your dives at the end of your holiday. This worked really well for my husband and myself, especially as you only needed to inform them the day before if you just wanted to dive from the beach either guided or unguided and we did both. There was plenty to see without the need to go out on the boat, which we also did!
Once initially equipped, iDive then provide each diver with a milk crate in which to store their equipment so you can use the same pieces for all your diving. This gets locked up safely each night, so divers with their own equipment won't have to carry it back forth every day and it's just a case of grabbing it every time you dive,
You are expected to set up/dismantle and clean all your equipment, which in my opinion is good practice anyway. There is a good area for rinsing various bits of equipment with different sections, if I had to find one tiny fault, it would be little people like me find it difficult to actually rinse our gear without almost climbing into the tanks and little steps would make it easier. That said, it was quite amusing, especially to my husband and other divers and even myself, trying to balance on the end of the tank with both my little legs swinging while I swished my wetsuit about. To be fair, one male diver did hold onto my legs, who said chivalry was dead? lol
Big shout out to Petra, Hassan and Carlo, you're all amazing and we can't wait to get back later in the year!

Your competent partner from the beginner to professional divers. It would be a pleasure to welcome you to Safaga on the Red Sea in the heart of Egypt. You can get the most information about your hobby here (diving). Since 02-01-07 the freedom diver centre is in German-Egypt hand. We can promise you the most diving pleasure in Safaga. Salem-Express, Panorama-Riff or Abu Kafan are some of the favourite divesites around Safaga. Also you can make trips to Elphinstone or Abu-Dabab with us. Just ask us about the special trips and offers. All those facilities are close to the Safaga hotel "Toubia". Also within 100 km you can watch dugongs, turtles and sting rays. You can book half day and full day trips with a boat and tours starting at the hotel or you can dive right from our beautiful beach, no need to carry your equpiment too far. There are always reef sharks, turtles, and dolphins around. Divers who want to shoot pictures under water will always have a sensational view. We have something for everyone, from the professional diver to the first time diver. We can offer you an inexpensive and comfortable vacation (with us there is no mass diving, but is individual). At night you can join us in the Beach Bar for BBQ or go out for a drink to the "Diverhouse" close to the "Toubia hotel".
The guys at Safaga's FreedomDivers were more than helpful to properly organize before hand our arrival/departure in/from Hurghada airport, our stay with Toubia Hotel and the dives.
The boat dives were all very well planned (although always a surprise to where we would go...), the crew great and the food delicious.
They also provide all type of diving equipment that you can trust.
I would like to thank Diko for his warmth and his acolytes for the services.
Jonathan.

The Orca Dive Club Soma Bay is located at the 5-star hotel Breakers. From there, it is a short walk over the bridge to the drop-off reef at Ras Abu Soma. The house reef promises spectacular dives. But the area around Safaga has of course also other highlights. They are accessed with three boats. Worth a visit and also easy to dive for less experienced divers are the inner reefs around Tobia. Highlights include trips to the Panorama reef, Abu Kafan or a dive to the wreck of "Salem Express". The divers have access to 20 different dive sites overall
I have dived for over 15 years in Egypt and I have never felt so unwelcome walking in a dive centre. The dive guides were nice guys but the customer service in the centre from the staff who worked there was ice cold from the moment I walked in. The lady who initially dealt with me almost put me off diving with them completely.
The staff at Orca El Gouna were so much friendly in comparison next time I will go back there.
Polite customer service goes a long way even if you are a very busy dive centre .

I was diving at scuba world at the middle of January but also last year. Everything was modernized, the equipment was in good condition and they also have showers. The instructors/guides are frendly and they speak good English and german. The manager is kind and easy going, and at the end i even received a gitf from hin(thanks Fred). The diving sites are quite close from the base and you need maximum a 15 min drive with the boat. Some tours at Salem Express would have been nice but at that time was not to many people willing to go there.
Keep it like this!!!
Kind regards from Munich

The dedicated crew of Extra Divers Makadi shows its clients daily the all the varieties of the Red Seas beauty at daily organized full- and half board trips. They are providing weekly tours to the famous 110m-long wreck of the ‘Salem Express’ in the dreamlike most impressive Panorama of its surrounding reef. Furthermore, short trips to all the best spots are organized. The wonderful house reef with its small wrecks is not only for photographers and dive pro’s a must-see inviting to charming early morning- and night dives, in the summer month there are as well wonderful sunset dives. Tank carry service for house reef dives - free of charge.
I stayed at the Cleopatra hotel 5th to 11th May 2016 and went diving with Extra Divers.
I enjoyed the diving particularly the night dive with Ramadan. The operation has good gear for those renting, attentive dive guides and boat crew and good boats with decent ladders. FIlls are usually at 210 bar with Nitrox between 28 and 31%.
There is an issue that I have with Extra Divers which has lowered the rating. Extra divers are safety conscious providing free Nitrox for those certified in its use but they do have a policy of charging for water (half a Euro). You can and should bring water with you of course but sometimes you might need it on board. With air temperatures of 30C daily you need to drink a lot of water. Since being dehydrated can be a contributory factor to DCI I think Extra Divers should be encouraging divers to drink water and I think the charge for water could lead some divers to refrain from drinking.

This was my favourite day out the whole holiday! The quad biking was incredible- we were driving really fast through the desert for about 45 minutes. The spider cars were good fun, although the camel and horse riding bit were very short. However, a very helpful man took dozens of great pictures on the camels, so was really good fun. The Bedouin camp was interesting, although I suspect rather staged, but the jeep ride to get there by far made up for it. This was followed by shisha and a show back at the base camp. This was an amazing day out, although very long, so I'm not sure it was really suitable for children.

We got entry as part of our stay at the Jaz hotel complex.
Had a fun day out and wasn’t too crowded on the slides. Slides, rafts and inflatables are all safe and the staff do an excellent job of controlling matters.
Let down were the food options and no alcohol on site. Notices suggested adult only areas.
Also there are no lockers
