We loved the advertising about 'free roaming monkeys' (actually lemurs) but from the get go this rather peculiar place grabs you. At the ticket office you are faced with a very busy line of leaf cutter ants marching across a pool of water centimetres from you. As you move from room to room through heavy plastic curtains, you are met by Lemurs, toucans, skin nibbling fish (stick your hands in the tank! Go on I dare you!). And guess what the ants are patiently following you up through the floors... In the night-time zone you are in the same space as the night dwelling animals, just stand a while and you start to see them moving around you, and often very close indeed. From our four year old, 10 year old and 16 year old, up to grumpy old me, we all found something to wonder at. It is in a slightly strange location, but ignore that and let your inner curiosity take over. It is a great place to visit on a rainy day, but better than that it seems to do a better job that many zoos in bringing you closer to animals and bugs in a way that surely represents the wonderful interests of whoever curates it. It is not 'polished', but you hardly notice it. It certainly awakes the 'inner child' in adults, and excites the young rather well. They could have worked on the 'gift shop' as well as they did the exhibits (wormery anyone?) but that is to be a little harsh. Go back again? I rather think we will.

Every year more than 700,000 people visit Lund Cathedral, Swedens most visited Church. People of all ages and types are attracted here for a variety of reasons. Besides those who attend services or seek spiritual renewal, there are many tourists groups from different countries, school classes as well as visiting parties from other churches and congregations. Lund Cathedral was consecrated in 1145, and contains many well-known artifacts and features of considerable historical interest. Please don´t miss to visit the Cathedral Forum, Domkyrkoforum, a brand new modern building just south of the Cathedral. Here you can see two films about the Cathedral, drink coffee/tea, and get information.
Every time, when I travel to Lund I visit this mighty church founded in 1080. I also took a look at crypt, which is identified by its numerous and densely built pillars. The pillars are very different in style and were built by the architect Donatus. The most famous pillar is the one with the statue of a man embracing it. Local legend tells that the figure is Finn the Giant, builder of the Cathedral.

A good place to stave off the cold. The cafe serves delicious hot Danish lunches. With free coffee and salad. How decent!
The library is stunning. There are also two fantastic children Libraries for under 7 and over 7. How clever to split the ages. There's more than just books but hide out areas to read in and dressing up and a music room for the kids.

The Kungsparken is a lovely little park that is really nice to walk around. I went there today with my girlfriend and we really enjoyed it although it doesn’t take too long to walk around. The scenery was amazing as the small lake was all frozen. Also, just a detail but if you like ducks, we’ll, there are plenty there and they will let you approach them as they don’t seem to be scared of human presence.

Take a walk through a mix of what Mother Nature has to nature. There are more than one kind of forest in Scandinavia and as you walk through this place you can see the difference between a few of them. You can also get to the beach, and up on the top you have a splendid view overlooking both the dense forest and the beach... all in all this is a great experience.

The Lighthouse will be open weekends during 25th of march-30th of June 11 am-5 pm July open daily until august 15 An exhibition will show the almost 1000 year history of light on the mountain. A new Cafe will offer the best food of the local area. Outside serving with magic views
We visited this area on an organised coach tour from Helsingborg. The lighthouse was not open at the time of our visit. The nearby toilets were not functioning and a guide advised that they were apparently awaiting repair from fire damage. Although the weather was not ideal, the extent of the sea views from the cliffs around the lighthouse could be appreciated. There are also a number of paths in the area for walking. Whilst pleasant we felt that the lighthouse location and immediate surroundings were not exceptional and similar to those that can be found elsewhere.

A visit to Ales Stenar is well worth a detour of you happen to be in the region. The megalithic arrangement on the elevated coastline of southern Scania east of Ystad immediately brings you back in time, to a time when the relative movements of the earth and the sun has meanings that are forgotten nowadays.
Beautiful.

The Lund Botanical Gardens are best visited during the lush spring-to-summer time, where they are at their very best, with an explosion of colours, all the plants around you emanating their fragrances, and the relaxed crowd of visitors that makes for great people-watching. Find a bench and enjoy.
