Shijiazhuang ([ʂɨ̌.tɕjá.ʈʂwáŋ]; Chinese: 石家庄) is the capital and largest city of North China's Hebei Province. Administratively a prefecture-level city, it is about 263 kilometres (163 mi) southwest of Beijing, and it administers eight districts, two county-level cities, and 12 counties.

Out of seven months spent in China, Cangyan Shan is still a highlight (as was Shijaizhaung city (museum, ancient bridge, old walled city, Yujia stone village). The surprising thing is that it is so close to Beijing.
I visited in Spring, when the cable car was closed. It's a short easy hike up under the two Bridges of the temple. At the bridgens, you can either go left or right. Tough call. I went both. A second path back down to the mountain base is to the left side (looking from the cliff bottom). While the right side has a spectacular path on a cliff edge. I'd recommend walking down the way you didn't come up, as the views looking at the temple are great from this path.
The older temples in the cliff are very beautiful. The two newer temples on the cliff top were not so much. It was very quiet and sleep when I visited, as it was out of season. Try to go on a no smog day, but even if smoggy the valley is a little sheltered.
The road to Cangyan Shan goes near Yujia Stone village, so try to visit both. Bargain with taxi drivers. I paid 300RMB for a hassle free ride from the city centre to the temple, then I paid 80RMB to get to Yujia Stone Village. Finally I hitchhiked back to the city centre for free.

This museum is free for all, just need to show them your identification. Hence, remember to bring your passport along. Good educational visit for families and tourists. Centrally located. You will get to see histories of different era and dynasty. Photo taking is permitted too. Worth checking out this place if you are a history lover and since its free, why not?

Whilst remembering that this is China and the standard of cleanliness may not be what you are used to it still is a good zoo. (If you're not opposed to the concept of zoos)
Lots of animals from kangaroos to pandas, elephants, bears, rhinos, crocs, snakes etc.
Takes several hours to see everything.
50CNY per adult.

The new and improved lerthai center is one of the main hotspots in Shijiazhuang. Some great restaurants, including the newly opened 24 Hour Hai Di Lao Hotpot. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Shijiazhuang and want some good dining experience. They also have an Amphitheater on the top floor along with an ice skating rink.

This is a relatively new mall in Shijiazhuang that is geared toward children. The mall was specifically designed for parents and grandparents to be able to take toddlers and youngsters to play and participate in various activities. At a top level, there is an indoor recreation of a venice-like canal, in which you can actually take a boat ride. In addition, there are multiple Aquariums with all sorts of sea creatures to look at. The rest of the mall has the usual assortment of shops, as well as various restaurants. The theater is okay, but nothing special.
I wouldn't put this on the list to me in Shijiazhuang for only a day or two. However, if you're in the city for an extended visit, or are staying at a hotel nearby, it's worth a trip.

I was there for 3 and half hours and it was realy worth to spend those hours. Anyone living Shijiazhuang for couple of days and has some bit of interest in history must visit. Additionally he will get the company of beautiful pigeons in front of the museum. The museum is the most clean place I found in China. REALLY NICE PLACE TO KNOW ABOUT THE PROVINCAL HISTORY AND CULTURE.

Recommended to go to visit this attraction. Went on a Sunday with the kids, mistake especially on a Sunday (when kids and all families are off) There was a mad scramble as the doors opened, those who have been to China will understand what this entails....
The water slides were good, there was a "lazy river" type of water feature which seemed to have too many people in there. The wave machine was effective however the amount of people made it rather dangerous and people were being barged around and felt like a free for all keep yourselves alive at all costs! Would not visit again..

If you're looking for a tourist destination in Shijiazhuang, this place is perfect, but only if you go at the right time! Whereas most tourist destinations are best to visit when there are no crowds present, this place is the opposite. Come on Saturday or Sunday morning for a delightful cacophony of Chinese culture. Like many parks in China, this is where many families go for entertainment on the weekends, and the cool mornings during spring and summer are the best time. You can find opera Performances, kung fu demonstrations, dancing, plus other park-related things like boat rides, cotton candy, etc. You could easily spend the whole morning enjoying yourself and taking pictures.
Occasionally the park will have displays put up like the one I have included as a picture. Those displays are often best viewed at night.
During other times, the park is more quiet and suitable for strolling or relaxing. As of the writing of this review (late 2016) the subway line is still being constructed, which borders the park. As a result, access is a bit inconvenient. That problem will be alleviated soon when the subway is finished.
