We visited Le Cachot as a groupfor a social evening while working in Senlis. The shop is a must for anyone interested in history and a visit in the cellar is highly recomended. We had a lovely dinner there with great food and an interesting tale of the historical finds that have been done in the area.
The Owner was very polite and knowledgeble, sadly he only speaks French so at least one person in the group shold speak french

We loved Senlis. We visited on a bustling Saturday afternoon with shoppers in full flow. The Cathedral is just wonderful but we loved the winding medieval streets, cobbled paths and roads and quirky shops and cafes. It just oozes character and history and having visited most of the big towns in the immediate vicinity, it has to be one of my very favourites.

Pretty grounds and ruins of the abbaye, but the highlight is the chapel. Don't miss the quirky gargoyles (snail, dinosaur, etc.), and especially the restored inside frescoes from Primaticcio, the 16th-century italian painter primarily famous for his work at the Chateau of Fontainebleau.

What a fantastic little museum this is! €3 entry fee. Fully equipped for the disabled. Well thought-out layout. Interesting French art collection, as well as artefacts from the Roman period, found in Senlis & the surrounding area. It takes no more than a couple of hours to get round, so it's an excellent activity for a rainy afternoon.

Senlis, in the province of l'Oise in the Picardy region in the north of France, is a really great place to visit. This beautiful picturesque town with cobblestone streets was originally a walled city and its history dates back more than 2000 years. It was the birthplace of the French Monarchy in the 10th century.
Honestly there isn't too much to see in the ruins of the old royal château but it is still a must see in the town and the park is a very lovely and peaceful place. Plus it is free. It is a bit frustrating not to know more about the history of the place.
Pick up a free guide at the tourist office next door and go on all of the walks proposed. Spend at least a half day here having lunch or dinner and exploring all of the streets off the beaten path. Most people stick around the Cathedral and the park. Photographers will not be disappointed!
Word of warning to women. This town is not a place to wear heels with the cobblestone streets. Too dangerous and you'll ruin your shoes!

I certainly didn't expect the museum to be so rich in art works, from furniture, paintings, tapestries, books just to name a few.
The owner travelled the world to satisfy her love of art and bequeathed it to the French government in 1912. The museum/ house is splendid and you can't help think of the grandeur of the past. A very interesting stop for sure as well as the chapel.
We did the Ateliers des Parfums workshop which is held in the old stables and really enjoyed learning about scent and making our own perfume to take home. 3 euros well spent.

Again went here years ago. It's a funny place for a guide to take 4 women, but we dutifully looked around. As an animal lover, I'm not keen on hunting , but as a historical place it was interesting enough.

Went here many years ago and enjoyed visiting this abbey whilst touring this small village for the day. Lovely church, not as ornate as some , but worth a visit
