A very nice beach-escarpment walk with shrubby vegetation, coastal birds, park benches for somewhere to sit and observe the water, vantage points to take photos, a playground, public toilets, flights of stairs and a very steep ramp down to the beach. Water taps to fill the water bottles and bowls for doggy drinks near the taps. Large expanses of level golden sand for kids to play. Lots of ocean birds observed diving into schools of fish during our visit. Sailboats on the water. A beautiful location for soaking up the sun on the beach, swimming in the clear water, jogging, or simply relaxing with a picnic hamper. Easy access by train. Shops a 5-10 minute walk away. Payment required for car-parking. Suitable for most ages. Difficult access to the beach for strollers and people with reduced mobility. The escarpment walk is also sandy and not suited to strollers. Picturesque location.

A lovely bayside reserve - best in spring and summer - with some native vegetation and a lot of grass on which to exercise. Buses are nearby and Sandringham railway station within walking distance.

Located between the Bayside Triathlon Club and the Sandringham Yacht Club is this great beach for kids and also a dog friendly beach. TIP: walk thru bush and down sealed hillside track from Trey Bit Reserve.

Sandy Mini Golf is only 20km away from Melbourne's CBD and Bayside’s new and only 18 holes mini golf featuring kids’ parties and first-class family entertainment. Families of up to 6 can play at the same time and enjoy the experience of our facilities. Our course is designed for all age groups and skill levels: simply choose from one of our three tees.
I have taken 2 of my grandchildren to play mini golf here a couple of times. It's a fun way to fill in a short space of time with them. My grandson thoroughly enjoys it. He is six and looks forward to our visit each time. My granddaughter is still a bit young, she is four. Next school holidays we will return for another time filling adventure.

The Sandringham Cenotaph is set in a fenced park across Beach Road from the cliff-tops. It is a war memorial to Australian soldiers in the first and second world wars. The park has no facilities, so visits are usually short.

The Bay Road Heathland Sanctuary is a rarity. There is not much sandy heathland left around Melbourne and this patch is quite large. Opening on Thursday through the year, it also opens on every second Sunday between 10am and 2pm. As the place is run by volunteers it is best to check.
