Nice place to wander in nature and see the cloud forest. A few toursity bits at the entrance - but actually quite nice to be able to east and drink nearby. Trekking and horseriding are available if you like.
The place is a bit disappointing as it claims to be a private reserve and signs ask you to respect nature and only go with a guide. But this doesn't seem to be the case and it is open to the public and you can just walk in. So there is also quite a lot of rubbish and damage to plants and the hillside from people climbing around, picking things ad making a bit of a mess.

We had a couple of hours left in Salta before our bus would leave, so we decieded to visit this reserve. The reserve itself is a nice area with quite a few birds (if you're lucky) and makes for a nice, although at times steep, walk on narrow tracks. The only way to visit the park is by guided tour, but this does not add much to the experience. The guides speak only Spanish, but even to the Argentine folks in our group he was awfully quiet. Besides, the pace was terribly slow, making the walk much more tiresome than it should have been.
Overall, visiting the reserve is a good way of spending a few hours in the surroundings of Salta, but it is not very exciting. I assume the natural parks "close" to Salta are better (but not managable in a few hours).
This reserve is located about 7km outside of Salta and can easily be reached by taxi (35 pesos), bus, or bike (if you can find a bike rental in Salta). You have to make a reservation to enter the reserve, which can be done via email or phone.

Great experience. A little late with this update but we visited with a group in october 2011 and had a great time. A 2hr's horseride through nice landscape, for the ones who did not want to go horsebackriding there was a nice walk on the huge premises, afterwards a very good lunch accompanied with guitarmusic and songs. Very hospitable and friendly! Really nice to spend a day like this, I can really recommend it!

On a recent trip to charming San Lorenzo, my husband and I made appointments for a massage.
The masseuse (not entirley sure he was even trained) gave me the worst massage ever -- practically burning my skin with violent friction rubbing that I had to tell him to stop or flinched away in pain. Then to top it off, he made me feel so utterly uncomfortable (no sheet over me), just awkwardly placed towels somewhat draped over me. My husband didn't even stay for his paid appointment and we left with me in tears.
This place was not what I had expected, the only thing it had going for it was it wasn't that pricey.
Loved San Lorenzo, but wouldn't send my worst enemy to this alleged spa.
