Very Interesting visit, more for my husband than me. There are two sites of the mines and, unfortunately, neither of the engines were working when we visited. The staff were very friendly and helpful and one of the staff told us, in great detail, about the history and working of the mine.

Tehidy Woods is a lovely place for a walk at any time of year BUT at certain times of year - usually during the school holidays you are in for an extra special treat. Rogue Theatre put on their magical woodland plays within the trees and it really is not to be missed. Tickets can be purchased online, look out for the Summer Ball, dress up for a pirate show or wrap up for Old Man Winter complete with mulled wine. The actors lead you through a series of scenes created amongst the branches. Each season is different, they even have foraging and cooking sessions sometimes. But every time you come home amazed and delighted.

Visited here for a week with my two boys, 9 and 11. Body boarding was excellent. Large waves out at sea, but great spots to pick up the smaller ones and board back into shore. Lots of rockpools and caves to explore at low tide too. Great facilities and very friendly.

Nestled just off the A30 in Pool, near Redruth in the former mining heart of Cornwall, there are 19 acres of eclectic fun to explore. State-of-the-art Exhibitions, climb-on sculptures, Gardens of epic diversity, a giant adventure playscape for kids, art and craft studios and a funky café in the old carpenter’s workshop. With swathes of green outdoor space for warm, sunny days and ever-curious indoor space when it’s wet, Heartlands is all-year round, all-weather entertainment for anyone and everyone. Go see, go play, go wow.
Lovely place gives an insight into the lives of the miners. The exhibition is very interesting and also free lots of interactive things to do. Dogs are also welcome to visit which to us is important. We visited on a rainy day but managed to dodge the showers. There is a parking charge but is refunded as purchases in the cafe, can thoroughly recommend the soup and cream tea the scones were lovely.

The Flicka Foundation is a sanctuary for donkeys and horses. We are not an attraction, but a working sanctuary that spends seven days a week rescuing and rehabilitating donkeys from cruelty neglect and abandonment. We welcome visitors through our gates free of charge to see our work and meet our big family. We have a tea room serving delicious light snacks and home made cakes and a small gift cabin, the rest of the centre is dedicated to our rescues enjoying being free, loved and cared for. If you are looking for lots to do and see Flicka is not the place for you - if you love animals and want to see alot of happy donkeys and ponies living in peace and tranquility please visit they would love to meet you - we would too!! ;-)
Not very well sign posted, and parking awkward, but so much to see and partake in, such as grooming.
So many lucky and happy donkeys to pet and watch, near and far.
Food and donkey goods to buy to help raise funds. Well laid out with shelter so you can enjoy you visit no matter what the weather

Feadon Farm Wildlife Centre at Gwel an Mor offers a wealth of wildlife experiences, nature trails, falconry, night walks and rock pooling. Come and visit us - you can meet our reindeer, hand feed foxes, fly owls and birds of prey, and stroke lots of other furry friends. We are passionate about sustainability and the environment. We carry out recycling, energy conservation and community support, and believe that offering engaging wildlife activities for young people creates an awareness of man’s impact on the environment. We support the Cornwall Wildlife Trust and hold a David Bellamy Conservation Award.
My son and myself booked a "meet the animals experience" it was great much better than I anticipated would definitively recommend to anyone. You get to feed the goats and fox and meet the reindeer, ferret, snake and owl. The experience took about 2 hours and we learned quite a lot!!! Thank you very much

The award winning King Edward Mine Museum which specialises in the mining history of Cornwall. The mine dates from the 19th century and most of the equipment in the mill has been restored to working order. The buildings are all Grade II* listed and are of National importance. The site is part of the World Heritage Area of Cornwall. The Museum is open during the summer - see website for opening times.
What a find. Very interesting museum on the mining in Cornwall. Informative volunteers take you around and could not have been more helpful. We explained we were short of time as we had to pick a child up from playgroup and they adapted the tour to suit. Very interesting, I have been on a number of these tours to other mines and was surprised to discover new things. Suitable for adults or older children not young families and steep steps, and lots of listening to do.
We also had a lovely coffee in the cafe close by and the food menu looked good as well.
Worth a trip. Added bonus tickets now last all season so we will be back to finish the museum again.

Took our four children there on a Sunday afternoon, reasonably quiet. Clean and tidy, staff friendly and helpful. Sessions appear to start and finish on the hour and prebooking would mean you don't have to hang around till the next one, although there is a small cafe where you can get light refreshments from. The children all enjoyed themselves, and those not taking part can sit in the cafe area and watch inside the trampoline area via TV screens. Would be happy to return, yes :)
