Paulista is a municipality in Pernambuco, Brazil, with a population of 303,404 as of 2011. It has the highest Human Development Index (HDI) of the Recife metropolitan area. It is the birthplace of footballer Rivaldo, and is also famous for its beaches, including Maria Farinha with the giant Veneza water park. It was incorporated as city in 1935.

o local é muito legal, pagamos um preco razoável porque pegamos uma promocao no peixe urbano, pois se fosse o valor que eles combram na bilheteria teria me arrependido, pois local cheio, (ate ai tudo bem) mas uma falta de organização em todos os sentidos, todo mundo faz o que quer, corta fila, pula na agua sem poder, rouba boia de outro brinquedo, e ninguem fala nada, terra de ninguém mesmo, os poucos salva vidas que vimos era mesma coisa que nada. fica muito decepcionada, um lugar tao bonito mas tao largado

This great Benedictine monastery was originally built in 1582 and the interior is nothing less than dazzling. The rich wood carving is overlaid with gilt or silver-gilt of the most ornate decorative patterns, all with intricate religious themes. The carvings of the Madonna and of the Saints are intriguing and quite inspiring. Sunday Mass is regularly celebrated in the Gregorian-chant manner at 10.00 am.

Beautiful old colonnial Portuguese Church in the heart of the Old Town. Gorgeous place to go and sit and at mass on a Sunday there is nice singing/chanting from the monks. Lovely.

Maria-Farinha is a paradise for Water Sports enthusiasts.In the immediate vicinity is the "Coroa de Aviao" Island and the Island of Itamaraca,on which the historical former Dutch Fort "Fort Orange" can be found,and the beautiful rivers,which are surrounded by mangroves.

O North Way Shopping, em Paulista, tem potencial pra movimentar a economia da cidade e se tornar um bom centro de compras e lazer. Ainda estão faltando muitas lojas, mas já tem alguma coisa, como cinema por explo. Tem um estacionamento amplo e não tivemos problemas para estacionar e nos locomover dentro do prédio.
Tomara que se fortaleça pra gerar empregos e dinamizar a região.

The location of this imposing edifice is first rate, with drop-dead gorgeous views over the bay and most of Olinda looking toward Recife, a mere 6km away. What makes this Church interesting is not the fact that it is the seat of the Bishop but that it is the fourth iteration of the 1537 original after the Calvinist Dutch burnt it down in 1631. Accordingly it lacks the ornate features we generally associate with Portuguese Carlist architecture of this period, and that makes it even more interesting. The soaring ceiling lacks the frescoes or murals of other great seats and the Stations of the Cross are simplicity themselves, as also the simple altar. But the spacious plaza outside and the austere interior are more than compensated by those views.

A praia do Janga é um ponto de lazer de famílias e turmas de amigos que são do próprio município de Paulista, de Olinda, e, em tempos de verão, de cidades mais pro interior, que não tem praias.
Não é como em outros lugares que tem a estrutura pra turismo, é uma praia com alguns bares onde as pessoas tomam suas geladas e comem petiscos.
Nas marés baixas, a praia costuma ficar seca mesmo, formam-se umas pequenas piscinas naturais onde crianças podem brincar na areia sem maior perigo.
Poderia ser mais bem cuidada, limpa tanto pela prefeitura como por muitos frequentadores que nem sempre respeitam o meio ambiente.
Dá pra ir lá num domingo de sol, descansar da rotina de trabalho, tomar uma cerveja, etc... só não se pode ir esperando encontrar o que se encontra em Porto de Galinhas ou Maragogi, o Janga está bem longe desse nível.

Lovely church right near the bus/taxi area where you arrive in Olinda, it is most people's first sight actually.
Really nice views from it as it is built on a height. The interior is quaint and historic and I have to say it is WELL worth your time.
