Known as the “place of quiet” the lodge is nestled in lush bush veld where the roar of the lion can be heard for miles around. Ukutula is conveniently situated within an hour’s drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria. The reserve comprises 260 hectares of unspoiled bush veld boasting a variety of wildlife species, including predator and antelope species, giraffe, zebra and more. Ukutula is also home to more than 130 different bird species. Ukutula supports and apply the IUCN’s One-Plan-Approach (OPA) to Species Conservation and Animal Breeding Principals - visit our website for more information: ukutula.com

Madikwe is a great nature reserve to view the Big 5 and much more. This time, had the pleasure to see a brown hyena, watch a large elephant herd with youngsters, and had a wonderful encounter with seven rhinos at a watering hole. Also saw cheetah and lions. Leopards remained elusive during my game drives but were seen by others. Madikwe is wonderful.

I spent part of a day with a friend driving on our own through the park. We saw a wide collection of animal species and got some great photos of blue wildebeests, zebras, elephants, lions, impalas, hartebeests (sp?), hippos, black rhinos, giraffes, etc. The scenic views of the park landscapes are almost worth the price of admission itself.
The roads are a little rough, but reasonable given they are mostly not hard surfaced. While there were quite a few other vehicles, including “safari transports”, on the roads, we never felt crowded or hurried.
One of the high lookout points, I forgot which, provides awesome views of the park’s topography and landscapes.

The breakfast at the Windmill restaurant was excellent with great service. Followed by a visit to the incredible Jasmyn food store. Fantastic fresh veggies and fruit with a helpful deli at unbelievable prices. The staff are so obliging and attentive. A Wow experience.

The Monkey Sanctuary is one of several sanctuaries in a group of sanctuaries, including the elephant sanctuary that provides for orphaned and abused animals. Situated west of Hartbeesport Dam alongside the Elephant sanctuary it provides an environment where monkeys (primates) can be given their freedom in a natural environment. The sanctuary situated in one of the many Kloofs (Gorges) of the Magaliesberg mountain range provides the perfect environment for Monkeys from around the world.
I love wildlife and go on many Safaris but I am normally loathe to visit any sort of animal attraction. If I do visit one it has to be because they are rescuing vulnerable animals from living a life they shouldn’t (I.e. like these monkeys...MoreGood day. We loved the view from the tower. It was 360 degrees of beauty. We had an opportunity to take a few pics. Very impressive and I hear you can arrange a special dinner up there. Next time we will try to schedule. Amazing panaramic views.

This crocodile sanctuary is fun for all ages; observe, learn about and even feed these impressive creatures.
We have visited the Crocodile Farm for many years but this visit indicated that the place has deteriorated tremendously over the years. The entrance fee was expensive. Whereas previously a guide would take you around and the tour was informative, this time although there were 3 guides sitting at the entrance they told us to just walk around. The men cleaning the enclosures were smoking as they raked the leaves. The entire place looked tatty and there was a total lack on interest in making guests feel welcome.

The Valley of Waves is the central feature of the Lost City at Sun City. It is one of the most advanced water parks in the world, dominated by the Roaring Lagoon. When waves are not generated, a bobbing cycle is generated in a diamond pattern. All Resort residents enter the park free of charge by presenting their resident cards. Day visitors pay an entrance fee to the park.
The valley of the waves is a must go place in Sun City, it is a lot of fun.
The artificial wave generator is fun for the whole family and it is the closest to being actually at a beach resort,
The music is very nice, and the newly added Zip line is great adventure around the place.
My favorite adventure is the Bullet as well as the Slide of Courage, these are extreme adrenaline, however there is also other fun activities for the whole family.
Great Time Indeed, Highly Recommended

You have to pick where you park very carefully and be lucky. Both sides of the robots packed with the usual touts but in mega strength. Pick the parking spot next to the tunnel entrance room for three cars - hence the lucky comment. Need telephoto lenses to get anything decent, but it is certainly unusual
