Genuinely frustrated and disappointed that my chill sanctuary for the afternoon was shut; you can only get so much enjoyment from the exterior. Some great views from the grounds.

If you need to disconnect from the urban life, nothing is better than strolling around this park. Fabulous place for joggers, hikers, bikers, rowers, photographers, nature lovers and even lovers as there is many a corner where one can disappear and enjoy life in the best way. There are trails for running, Bridges over rivers and canals and info at the foot of some trees and signs with pictures of sundry birds which dwell in the park.

Ideal church for lots of couples who want to marry. It is traditionally the favourite place for these celebrations. It also offers Concerts of classical and religious music from time to time. Legend has it that outside the building and on one of the walls you can see a grill where Saint Lawrence (that's the name of the church in English) was burned to death. We, Lleidatans, tend to believe it but...

It's free. It's got a great collection of cars. It's got lots of motorcycles and other things. It's a great place to spend some time ogling!
When we were there someone started up one of the vintage vehicles, it spurred like a well fed cat!!
Well worth a visit.

It houses the local government or Town Hall of Lleida and offers the possibility to visit some parts of it. The dungeons are a little spooky if you think of what could have happened there some centuries ago. The building is very nice and has an outside stone bench that we call "Sinofós" as it is used to be occupied by old people who constantly say "si no fós.." (If it wasn't) when referring to the question by another person of "how are you?". Everbody in Lleida has sat at least once here as it is in the High Street

The park of the Champs Elysees (in Catalonian 'Parc dels Camps Elisis') is a French-style park located in the neighborhood of Cappont, has: two Playgrounds whose are called 'Parc de l'Anna Mari' (in Spanish 'Parque de Ana Mari') and the other 'Parc de Somriures' (in Spanish 'Parque de las Sonrisas'), Bathrooms, Several sources with statues and other with small animals shapes. It's a good place to practice outdoor sports and enjoy 'flora and fauna' of 'Segre' river!

Gerri de la Sal is a tiny town located in Lleida zone, near the town of Sort and the Pyrenees. It is a little town, which is known for the salt (in fact in catalan "Sal" means Salt). The town had a lot of saltworks, where it is possible to obtain some tons every year of salt and all families in the town worked in it (in fact, in the middle ages, this town was very important for this reason), although in the year 1982 a flood damaged severely this zone. Nowadays, only one family still extract salt and it is possible to do a guided visit with one member of this family, who was very friendly and she explained us the manufacture of salt.
The town also has other turistical attractions: a big monastery (it is a town, where lived more or less 70-80 persons, but the monastery is very big due to salt), a museum of salt and a very good restaurant called "Casa Tomàs", where you can eat some mountain and catalan dishes like trinxat del Pallars (a typical dish of the zone), derr stew, which was hunted by the owner of the restaurant and custards as dessert.
Moreover, the owner of the restaurant was very friendly and explained us how he and their friends hunt some animals to cook in the restaurant.
On the other hand, it was a pity, because the monastery and the museum only open in july and august, and we can not to visit them, then we have to return in summer!

A proper castle for once. Built to dominate the country round about and, more importantly, the town down below. Note the clear field of fire you'd get from the upper car park.

Seen from the front façade this railway station gives an impressive look which marvels many an eye. Seen form behind it is another thing. Some years ago a brilliant mind decided to give a modern touch to this building. The result? It has lost its charming attraction it had had for so long. The only beautiful part is the front one, the rest is forgettable. This building houses a hotel (Transit Hotel) plus a cafeteria and some shops.

You have to visit this. One of the most important collections in Catalonia. The quality of the romanesque art is first class, with Lleida spawning a school of art whose style and influence spread far in the mromanesque and gothic periods.
Many of the exhibits are gleaned from churches.
Catalonia has many musems, over 200 with collections of romanesque. As I slowly visit many of them this stands out.
It tells the story of lleida from prehistory through roman domination, the new christian religion, through muslim domination, christian reassertion, muslim, jews snd christians living uneasy separate lives, high gothic and on to 18th century.
Exhibits range from muslim pottery (11 century) to a romanesque baptistry,an amzing collection of romanesque ecclesiastical art, altarpieces, tapestries and pieces from seu vell and much more.
The audio visual spaces to sit down mostly can be changed into english, french, german, spanish and catalan and others
Guides you can borrow in english mirror exactly the written panels
This is a real jewel. It took us two and a half hours
