Castle of knights and Dragons at Lenzburg Castle, one of the most beautiful and important hilltop Castles in Switzerland, history can be experienced in its original setting. Today's castle complex is the result of approximately 900 years of construction. The castle evolved from a count's residence to a seat of administration for Bernese bailiffs to the private home of rich American families. In the 2011 season you will also encouter 'stewards and villains'. A varied programme of adventure days, medieval events and activities bring young and old back to the age of chivalry. Let us take you on a journey into the past!
The castle is built round the rocky circular castle hill over looking the town of Aargau. There is parking (fee payable) with very clean toilets. From the car park it is a 5 minute walk up a steepish hill to the castle doors. Outside in the grounds is a great play area for children.
At the heart of the castle is pretty courtyard around which all the buildings are set. We paid (CHF 14) the extra to go and see the museum but we were sadly disappointed with it. The castle has been well maintained but we felt that because if the way it has been done that the castle has lost much of its old charm. It was hard to get any feel of what it was like hundreds of years ago to live there or much detail. Many of the rooms have been renovated to be used as function rooms and were empty of anything showing the rooms original use. Had we know how little there was to see in the museum we would have just paid the price to go to the cafe where you can enjoy the rose garden and the buildings from the outside. However if you have children it looks like a good place to visit as there are several things for them to get involved in and space for them to run and play. It would also be a beautiful setting for a wedding.

easily reached from Basel or Zurich, Wildegg offers furnished rooms from the 15th through the 19th centuries. The variety and beauty of the many wood-burning stoves for heating, covered in decorated tiles, are remarkable. Weapons including booty from the defeat of Suleiman the Magnificent before Vienna in 1683 are impressive. Tasteful bouquets of flowers as well as gourds testify to the loving care of its management. The grounds are still actively farmed, including a vineyard. Wonderful!

Your Chocolate Moments Enjoy the world of Chocolat Frey with all your senses. We'll take you on an interactive and poetic journey through chocolate.
I've visited Chocolat Frey with family and friends from foreign countries 5 times already and still love it. Unlike what other people have written, I think that it's actually pretty cheap. You have fun making your own 2 chocolate bars and then can spend like an hour on the tour and eat unlimited chocolate from a conveyor belt at the end. Remember: this is Switzerland! I when I told friends how that it cost 24 francs everybody says that's cheap. And I've checked what other chocolate factory tours cost, and it's more than 3 times as expensive! Anyway, people working there are nice (e.g. Silvia) and try to make you feel welcome. Further, the tour is informative (even though I would love videos from inside the factory). Of course there are usually lots of children, but for heaven's sake, it's a chocolate factory! Whoever complains about kids should go to a senior's bingo evening instead of a chocolate factory. Will definitely go again next time I have visitors :-)

The Museum of Witchcraft, Switzerland offers a variety of wonderful exhibits. Many pieces have been since decades in the possession of Wicca and her family, and were collected, compiled and continually supplemented. On approximately 200m2 you will find a carefully, over the years assembled, exhibition on the topic. How versatile, exciting and surprising the world of witches is presented, is shown in eight main areas. In the herbal- crystal and Witch animals room you will find magical roots, herbs, incenses and medicinal herbs and the old herb-woman Nonna Wicca. The meaning and healing proposes of crystals is explained also the meaning of the shapeshifting and the so called Witch animals. In the Divination room, you can learn about the various forms of Divination, meet famous Seers, learn about Clairvoyance, Astrology and Chiromancy. Old Oracle Cards, Tarots, Runes, Crystal Ball and Fortune Telling Cups. Here you will be informed about the story of the real Madame Lenormand, the origin of the Tarot and how Ogham and Runes were and are used. In the Superstitions, Folklore Beliefs and Divine room you will find informations and examples about Talismans, Amulets, means for the protection and defence, aware of the evil eye, protections against nightmares, ghosts or the Toggeli (the Swiss nightly mischievous creature). In the section about the Witch hunts in the middle age and early modern age you can learn who was denounced as a witch and why. What was the way from charge until execution. Since many years Wicca Meier-Spring (the founder and Manager of the Museum) searches the old archives in Switzerland and claims all the dates and names of persons executed as Witches in Switzerland. The name lists of these poor people are to be seen too, together with two executions swords from the 17th century.
Интересный музей, особенно если вы интересуетесь астрологией и магией - здесь есть разные магические предметы, показаны ритуалы, старые статуэтки. Узнала много нового

I've been here with some friends in the early evening and I really enjoyed the place. Really clean, polite staff and amazing atmosphere, there is space for everyone and everyone can relax him/herself. At the end they give you soap and shampoo in the shower and hair dryers! Nice experience.

While this castle has historical significance, there is not that much to see. It is a very short visit. However the view is spectacular. There is some explanation in English.

The market in Aarau is every Saturday morning along the "Graben". You get all different kind of local produce like veges, fruit, flowers, cheese, meat and bread.
It's rather expensive but you support the locals.
There is always a pasta-car there that sells fresh filled pasta. They make seasonal fillings and are to die for.
