10 Things to Do in Langkawi That You Shouldn't Miss

November 2, 2017 Christa Meece

Langkawi is a serene archipelago of 140 islands – only a few of which are inhabited. The largest of these is the eponymous Langkawi Island, which has UNESCO World Geopark status because of its richly populated (by wildlife, that is) conservation areas. The best way to experience these ecological wonders is from high above, on the Langkawi Sky Bridge that stretches above the rainforest. Cheekily-named Pregnant Maiden freshwater lake is a great place to take a dip or play keep-away with the kleptomaniac monkeys.

We decided to go in the late afternoon, wasn’t very hot, not many people so waiting time wasn’t more than 5 min.
Bought the ticket including 3D gallery. Had a very good time. Enjoyed the views.

Langkawi Sky Bridge

A definite not to be missed rare chance to experience the longest free span and curved bridge in the world balancing from a single pylon with surrounding views of the magnificent Machinchang mountain and afar below, Andaman Sea.
Go as early as 9.30am or 10.00 am to avoid the crowd or long queue including tour groups. Advisable to be well-versed of what type of tickets work best for you prior to arrival making the purchase as I encountered with a ticket staff who was unable to tell me the difference of the ticket combos or what each combo entails either than asking me to choose between Combo A & B. Thank goodness, that day Combo C was unavailable or else I would be in a bigger dilemma.
I paid MYR 55 for Combo B which comprises of SkyCab, SkyDome, SkyTrex, 6D Cinemotion & 3D Art Langkawi. Later I found out the difference between Combo A & B was that the former has the Time Tunnel attraction instead of 6D Cinemotion. I am opine that either than the SkyCab in which took approximately 15 minutes to get to the top whereby it is the only access, and the 3D Art Langkawi DIY at own pace that are worth it, the rest of the attractions were relatively short to truly immense into the rides for proper enjoyment.
It will cost another MYR 5 to get onto the SkyBridge, ticket purchased separately at the top station besides having an option to use the SkyGlide (MYR 10) or the SkyTrail (MYR 5). Despite purchasing the SkyGlide ticket in which was both ways, I decided to use the SkyTrail to get back to the top station just for experience sake._

A beautiful beach with casuarina trees as the prime vegetation, as opposed to the other rainforest-lined Beaches elsewhere. The jumping point for most of the mangrove activities on the island can be found here. It is best visited by romantics who wish to escape the crowded beach of Pantai Cenang, as the a stroll there can remind you of that Leonardo DiCaprio movie, The Beach =)

Be prepared to walk up the steep hill to the waterfall. The first half is on well tarred road and thereafter lots of stairs to deal with but well worth it. Be prepared for a nice cool dip after the hike up. Definitely a must visit. Nice and peaceful place to unwind and relax.

The place was better maintained and bigger than I expected. The staff is friendly. In the first section there are big parrots without cage and the staff told that they can't fly. I wonder why? You can buy feeding bags for the animals and the cages are well informed if you can or can not feed the animals. Some animals were stressed in their cages and walked in front of the cage continuosly, but that is the zoo life =(.
It is always controversial issue with these animal parks that should you or not visit them, but I think that if they give you more awareness of the animals and their habits, you might learn to respect the nature and wildlife more.
Thu budgie section was specially nice, the budgies flew to sit on your hand and eat the food the staff gave you. There were also other very beautiful and social birds to observe.
I don't want to give 4 stars for a animal park although I am sure that thr animals here are well kept and nursed.

It's a short drive away from the centre of Langkawi so is less commercialized than Pantai Cenang. Not as crowded as Cenang beach but the view it offers is good. Though one side of the beach is a bit rocky, it is cleaner than Cenang beach. The water too is cleaner. Unfortunately, there are no options for water sports and no shacks around the beach to grab a bite or enjoy a drink. However, we noticed a few groups picnicking on the beach - seemed to be having a gala time.

Temurun Waterfall

Reviewed By TheWorldIsSoDamnBig - Ottawa, Canada

The path to the lower pool of this waterfall is flat and easy, but the lower pool is really boring. After that, you walk past a sign that says - I think - "Path closed" and past the tape closing off the path, and scramble up the very derelict and dangerous path to the upper pool. If it is wet or if you have poor balance or weak knees, I would NOT recommend going up to the upper pool, and if you are not willing to go up to the upper pool, then there is really no point in going.
If you do go up to the upper pool though, it is very impressive, and you must take a bathing suit and swim in the shallow water (1.3m) up to the bottom of the falls. Some local lads were jumping off quite high ledges into the water - rather them than me! Oh the invincibility of youth!
You can picnic on one side if you wish, but do be careful of the monkeys...
Toilets at the beginning of the path were closed...
