October 31, 2017 Leonarda Pillsbury

The economic, cultural, and political capital of Kuwait, Kuwait City sits on the shores of the Persian Gulf, and is a mixture of exclusive Western-style hotels, designer shopping malls, traditional Islamic architecture, street markets, and still war torn buildings. The painted steel Kuwait Towers are the symbol of the city, and feature a viewing platform and restaurant looking out over Kuwait. Visit the Sadu House to learn about Bedouin culture and shop for handmade crafts and fabrics.

Having seen the Blue Mosque, Eyup Mosque, and other beautiful mosques in Istanbul, I was excited to see the Grand Mosque during my visit to Kuwait. The architecture and craftsmanship is unparalleled. It is a stunningly beautiful place. The tour - ours was about 90 minutes - was excellent and the guide, Michelle, was fantastic. This is a place that shouldn’t be missed.

This place is just pure whimsy! The owner and her late husband were both artists who had a lust for life, appointments are necessary for viewing but it was such a wonderful and unique experience.
The first floor of the house is completely covered in mirrored tile and the artist has such a fascinating story, she is surly a fire cracker that has endless energy! The second floor has a lot of interesting art by her late husband and a look into the universe.... Tours can run a little long but overall a lovely afternoon.

The brunch is nice, fresh food, a reasonably good selection and a good view around the city. Coffee is charged extra, although water, juice and tea is included in the price. Brunch also includes access to the viewing tower which rotates so you can stand and be slowly rotated around to see the water and Kuwait city.
The brunch is okay, nothing outstanding, you are really paying for the view and that depends on the air quality.
