Koundouraki Beach

Reviewed By Eduardo B

The beach is nice and very organised. The only issue is the attitude in the bar: there waitress is the most rude person I have ever met, she was rude when taking the orders, she brought all the drinks separately in 30 minutes after 30 minutes we were waiting. Food is very basic, cocktail very nice. When we received the bill, I asked her if the price was ok, and she replied that she was not stealing money from me, which is really offensive. They also didn't release any invoice for the the lunch (60 euro) and the water sport (50) euro. The rest of the staff is really nice but one single person can ruin the experience, so please spend your money elesewhere

this is quite a wide beach with tavernas and sunbeds at each end and plenty of sand space in between. there are a few trees but not much shade so bring an umbrella if you don't plan to use the sunbeds- easy parking. the taverna Riva serves tasty italian food but the service is a bit hit or miss- one day we went they were great, but another day we waited half an hour for the drinks and one meal as delivered half an hour after the others!!

Folklore Museum of Kea

Visit the old stone house of our great-grandfather that is now a folklore and agricultural museum.

Reviewed By Mila B - Milano

An old stone building, built in 1845, was transformed into the Museum: inside you find many exhibits that give the opportunity to know the history, tradition and culture of Tzia.
I visited this museum many times and I always love to bring my friends here. Every time I also discover something new that I didn’t catch the previous time because of the huge quantity of objects, pictures, artifacts, textiles, wood tools etc.
They also organize sometime cultural events, taking place at the theater in the orange-covered garden.
The Museum is located in the traditional settlement of Mylopotamos, 2 km from the port of Korissia.

Kea Artisanal - Day Courses

Guided by renowned cookbook author and journalist Aglaia Kremezi, learn to cook seasonal island and Mediterranean specialties. Enjoy the pleasures of our garden, taste exquisite wines from indigenous Greek varieties, a selection of rare artisanal cheeses, and much more...

Reviewed By Clayton s

While Kea provided a wealth of great memories the cooking class at Kea Artisanal was by far the most enjoyable. Costas and Aglaia are such warm and gracious hosts with such a well thought out cooking program. Three of us signed up for a one-day cooking class in Mid-May. Costas met us near our B&B to guide us to his home, and upon arrival snacks and wine were quickly in our hands. Aglaia walked us preparing some traditional Greek dishes to include preparation of breads and lagans. It was great to learn some of the tricks of the trade. After preparing the foods the group sat down to a most enjoyable experience. We spent perhaps the next three hours conversing, eating, and drinking a variety of wines offered by Costas. Costas and Aglaia had a wealth of information and gladly shared their insights. I could not think of any better ambassadors for the Island of Kea than Costas and Aglaia. We left with great memories and a detailed list of things to do provide by Costas. What an amazing start to out stay on Kea and was never topped even given the tough competitions of the other wonderful times we had.

Aristaios

At the fertile area of Mylopotamos in Kea island, our family cultivates and produces local handmade products , using traditional recipes and taste.

Reviewed By Mila B - Milano

Aristaios surprised me for the high quality of their local products. They have a wonderful selection of specialty foods, most of them are produced by themselves, as: "the best honey of the island", sweets, oil, liquors, capers, all sort of food made by almonds, dried tomatoes, fresh fruits and vegetables, soaps etc.. They also sell all the local specialties produces in the island with traditional recipes, as cheeses, bread, pomegranate juice, dried pasta.
The shop is very well organized, with a small bookshelf with books about the Island and its tradition, a small selection of textiles woven by traditional looms by the old Kea weavers still enjoying this art.
Interesting old tools are displayed together with pictures showing last century local life.
Shopkeepers, courteous and helpful, care about traditions and local peculiarities, as a dark type of figs that grows only in Kea. They know everything about the island and it is a pleasure to listen to them.
Following their suggestion, I visited the interesting local ethnic museum, not far from the shop.
Don’t miss it, well worth a visit, it’s a must to discover authentic life & product of the island!

We were very impressed with the location of the monastery but unfortunately the time of our visit did not allow us to experience the program. Somehow I think that Monastery visits need to be accompanied by experiences that enable you to enter the atmosphere.

Lion of Kea

Reviewed By SubhanNair - London, United Kingdom

One of the oldest landmarks in Greece and very mysterious. Mostly theories as to why its there but found it such a fascinating thing to visit. We walked all the way from Korissia to Illouis and the through the city and then its a little bit outside the (very small) city. We found it pretty easily as you just follow the number '1's on the path and keep going. Its not very obvious at first but you'll soon see it. Anyway, its such a beautiful walk with amazing landscapes and we didn't regret it at all. A must for those who like history and archaeology. Though if you are thinking of walking through the ancient paths, (from Korissia or somewhere like that), then be warned the paths are quite wild so if your not an adventurous type or scared of insects, especially spiders, you may want to take a taxi or drive to Illouis and walk straight through the town.

Gialiskari Beach

Reviewed By tragio - Athens

Beach is very nice, usually without waves due to the fact that it is inside a very close bay. Great beach bar, nice sunbeds but very very expensive (5€ each sunbed). Big disappointment some very bad smell coming from the organic cleaning located somewhere close.
