Khabarovsk (Russian: Хаба́ровск, IPA: [xɐˈbarəfsk]; Chinese: 伯力; pinyin: Bó Lì; Manchu: ᠪᠣᡥᠣᡵᡳ; Möllendorff: Bohori) is the largest city and the administrative center of Khabarovsk Krai, Russia, located 30 kilometers (19 mi) from the Chinese border, at the confluence of the Amur and Ussuri Rivers, about 800 kilometers (500 mi) north of Vladivostok. The city also became the administrative center of the Far Eastern Federal District of Russia in 2002. It is the second largest city in the Russian Far East, after Vladivostok. As of the 2010 Census, its population was 577,441.

Along our Trans-Siberian Railroad route we were lucky enough to visit the Khabarovsk Regional Museum with our expert local guide who happily translated much of the museum for our English-speaking group. Really great to see.

This monument is popular for being on the obverse of the 5000 RUB bank note. The location of the monument is also popular for being a relaxed area with an overview of the city river beach.
The person represented in the sculpture is a very relevant Russian politician and diplomat, the responsible for the Russian Far East to belong to Russia.

The Muravyov-Amursky Park is located by the River Amur in Khabarovsk. It is a nice park to walk by during autumn, when the trees are at their best. Or in winter, with snow. Though temperatures are nicer in summer, try to avoid it for the mosquitoes. This is one of the most popular places for locals, families and couples. This park is the original place of the first settlement of the city. Not far from here you will find some museums, the concert hall, a small amusement park for children, and a little bit further tennis courts and the Lenin Stadium. Nice, but in continuous decay. Maintenance seems to be an unknown word in Khabarovsk...

The bridge over the Amur is one of those things that I will never grasp to understand completely. The original bridge built in early 20th was a classic, yes. It served to close the Trans-Siberian train railway. But since 1999 it is no more. One of its pieces became the museum of the bridge. The current bridge is a modern bridge (there are many more beautiful than this functional bridge in the world) which is famous because it is depicted in the reverse of the 5000 RUB bank notes.
If you want to visit the place from where the bank note drawing is made, you need to go to an abandoned building on top of the Tregorkogo Street.

The other main Cathedral of Khabarovsk, the Transfiguration Cathedral, with its classic golden domes, presides the Square of the Glory. The building, very modern (10 years) is really beautiful and dominates the city being one of the tallest Orthodox Cathedrals of Russia (the third after Moscow and St. Petersburg) and currently the tallest building of Khabarovsk. The interior is ample, clean and light. The seminar nearby is also a nice complement to the visit.

The North Park (Severny Park) is located at the north-west of the city, some 5-7 km away from the center. It has been recently expanded and restored. It has an intentional romantic flavor, especially the area where the celebration hall is. There the Pushkin Ball takes place every month of June.
In the nearby you have the Church of Saint Seraphim of Sarov, worth a visit too if you are in the park.

Comparing to many others sports complexes, Platinum Arena is clean, well-maintained and comfortable. I've attended many KHL and MHL games due to work and a few Concerts there. The only problem I see is security system. The "guards" are very rude to everyone without a reason. The stadium also features a nice coffee bar with the best hot chocolate with marshmallows ever ;))) the parking area isn't big, but still there! It's also conveniently located next to a nice hotel and a restaurant "Olympic".

Lenin Square is the heart of Khabarovsk (together with Komsomolskaya Square). Here you will find some Fountains and a Lenin statue at the back, always with flowers (there will always be nostalgic people). Around the square you have some old and new buildings. In the square children play, people meet, photographers wait for customers. During winter the main Christmas tree and ice sculptures and decorations are set here. And in general most of the celebrations take place here. If you are in Khabarovsk, this is a must, but do not expect anything special like the Red Square at Moscow or Trafalgar Square at London. It is just the center of this small Russian Far East town.
