Our guide, Marta, was incredible! There was great email communication leading up to the tour and she even went out of her way to make a special drop-off for us! The tour itself was super interesting and brought us to wineries that we wouldn't have otherwise found on our own. Finishing with a delicious lunch in Laguardia capped off the best day of our trip! Highly recommended.

We couldn't get a tour with any of the vinas we attempted and happened upon Vivanco by chance - we were so glad we did. First, the view from the grounds is spectacular. They serve typical Riojan bocadillos and other food in the bar. There is also a restaurant on site. The museum offers a great perspective on wine. Eduardo, who conducted our tour of the winery, is a serious, knowledgeable professional with a vast knowledge of the region, Vivanco family wine business and wine production.

Blic stands for Balance, Length Intensity and complexity. These wines have it in abundance. As does the winery and all who work there. Enrique is so passionate about his wines and his enthusiasm is infectious. Great detailed tour with an in depth tasting, Fabulous. Also the local restaurant is excellent also showing their wines

Promptly upon our arrival, which had been arranged by our hotel in Abalos, we were greeted by Leire, who took us on a wonderful guided tour. She explained in great detail their winemaking process and the distinctive elements of Bohedal's wines, easily fielding our questions and happily welcoming all inquiries. At the conclusion of the tour, we had a chance to sit with Leire and try several of the wines, all of which we enjoyed very much. She was also a delight in telling us more about the Rioja region, her family's winemaking history, her trips to promote Bohedal's wines, and her efforts to make their wines available in more markets abroad. We would highly recommend visiting Bohedal to any visitors, including those like us who know very little Spanish and require a guide with fluency in English. All in all, it was a warm, welcoming experience, as well as highly informative. We'd go back again, for sure!

Nice place to visit, with a guided tour presenting the architecture, the sculptures and a bounty of details worth knowing. As a plus the lady keeper moans about the hurdles she faces to keep the place in good shape and her fight against pidgeons and red tape.

This is an old bodega (in newer modern space) which is in outskirts of Haro. They make of course amazing wine but also Vermuth (!) which we didnt know.
First of all the staff (Lourdes) is amazing! She is high energy, friendly and very accommodating (as we changed our visit time multiple times to facilitate the Haro winery musical chairs wine visits . . . if you have planned visiting wineries here you will understand what i mean by that!). Kudos to the staff for hiring someone so friendly and wonderful who truly is the "face" of the winery as she is it.
Now to the wine.. .we loved this wine (even before the tour) as we had a glass of it at a nearby tapa place and asked who made it and they showed us the bottle and it was a Martinez Lacuesta wine!
Come here for great wine! and there is no charge (the owners feel strongly about this apparently and really doesnt feel as commercial as lets say a winery in Napa or a winery nearby that starts with M).
We highly recommend

We are in the heart of Rioja Alta, a short distance away from Haro and Briones. Wine is deeply rooted in the history of our small village, as evidenced by its noble houses built in the 17th and 18th centuries. Churrumendi Hill, Ollauri's highest point, offers stunning views of the River Ebro valley, between the Sierra de la Demanda peaks and the limestone walls of Sierra Cantabria and Toloño mountain ranges. Today, with the Murúa family at the helm, Bodegas Ollauri-Conde de los Andes brings back an age-old tradition. It was in 1894 when Federico Paternina built the modern cellar where his ancestors had been making and storing wine since the 15th century. After successive changes in ownership that have marked recent decades, Julián and Javier Murúa have begun a new era.

We spent a couple of hours with tour guide Christina,who was so amazingly passionate about the history and wine here.The underground "calou's" were something to behold and the wine tasting in the actual caves was an experience not to be forgotten. Every time I tour a group for a tapas meal at junguitu's winebar I enjoy it more, he always has a bottle of the 64 or older Riojas to surprise us, his latest discoveries always are great choices, like the wild Garnacha of Moncayo, his knowdledge on wines is amazing and the food his brother cooks is simply unique traditional spanish food. Don't miss the callos (cow stomach) and the pikled rabit.
A must go!!

You are spoiled for choice in this area of La Rioja for church architecture but this is a magnificent example and not to be missed if you are nearby. It has a high altar to rival Santo Domingo and fascinating features throughout. Each devotional chapel brings its own surprises and the organ is truly sumptuous.
