We saw the great reviews on TripAdvisor and decided to check it out. The area is serene and green - well looked after. The parking is limited during the holiday season. The beach however has sufficient mileage to accommodate everybody without feeling crambed.. a clean beach indeed. The stairs at the reef provided a great look out point and photo moment. For that extra peace of mind I would recommend guards around the rocky parts of the reef and toilet areas.

This has to be the best mall in EL. Clean, airy and well lit. A great selection of stores. The only negative? What is going on with the millions of random speed bumps near entrance 8?

Wow, a great time was had at Mpongo by everyone on our excursion. We took the last trip of the day and enjoyed numerous animals and a very lovely wine and lite snacks by the watering hole. Lions close to the lodge, Giraffe, Wildebeest, Zebra, Cape Buffalo close to the vehicles and even crunchy, peppery termites to savor for the brave.

The East London Museum is still an amazing experience which comes to life thanks to guide Mrs Venter. Be sure to book her services for a guided tour. You cannot get better value for your money (only R10 entrance fee charged) anywhere in the world. I took teenagers and they were absolutely enthralled. We returned for a second visit. Two hours was just not long enough.

What a great way to spend some "me" time with friends and/or family. The reserve is well maintained and if you are patient can spot some wonderful birds at the hides. But why not charge a fee and use that to maintain the reserve. The boardwalk does need a little care.

The Venom Pit is one of Africa's largest snake parks situated 10km's from East London. Home to Africa's most deadly snakes as well as the worlds rarest. Our facility boasts a clean, fresh approach to the husbandry and care of our animals. Our friendly & efficient staff are there to educate and entertain our visitors about these amazing, fear inciting animals through interactive snake demonstrations
The guide was good and shared a lot of relevant information about snakes. Grounds are neat and well kept, with a huge variety of snakes to see. You can touch and interact with some of the non-lethal snakes, which is a nice experience for kids and some adults as well.

I had my aunt and uncle visiting from the U.K. with their young children so we went to the aquarium. The staff were amazing! They took a personal interest in the children allowing them to feed the seals, penguins, fish etc. They also answered every question they had taking a special interest in teaching about the environment. Awesome experience!

Coffee, The Harbour and meetings... Best place to chill out, have meetings and also an epic party spot for the jazz lovers...

although we did manage to see the lions, cheetah and giraffe (from afar) the overall impression my overseas friend and I got was that the park was looking a little tired and in need of a revamp. The buildings are a little run down and need a fresh coat of paint.
Also not too sure if it's a good idea to hold children's birthday parties there as there were a group of little boys harassing the monkeys!

Against the Nahoon River is this picnic site. Place to stroll around or take a picnic basket. With a play park for the children, dad can go fish and mom can enjoy the sun.
