Fantastic. Can't speak highly enough. We went through fields, on roads, mud, forest. Amazing countryside. River side. Wow. Some challenging riding in parts. May be a little challenging for a novice rider. But highly recommended!!!

We were happy to be guided by a very well informed lady who also spoke English. She showed us the whole complex which comprised a Church and an abbey with wealthy farmlands around. The mighty history of the abbey belonging to the bishop of Montepulciano was explained to us and some important works of art (especially the Central altarpiece) were shown. Nowadays this place is the venue for a group of 27 European villages that exchange visits amoug each other.
Visit is recommended, try to find the guide.

Sergio was a delight to spend the day with as we visited and toured two different wineries in the Chianti region of Tuscany last month. He was really knowledgeable about wine as well as the region that we toured. For tastings, Sergio took us to two fabulous wineries where we both felt welcomed, interested, and of course, well-fed and hydrated! For lunch, he brought us to a beautiful spot overlooking a vineyard where we had a front row table and an incredible view. Additionally, he encouraged us to stop at multiple picturesque locations and he took our picture. Spending the day with Sergio was interesting, tasty, relaxing, and stress-free. We would highly recommend using Sergio to anyone interested in touring the area and will absolutely book with him again next time we visit!

We visited four wineries in Chianti with six people, leaving from Siena. Giuseppe was an amazing guide, and not only were the wines great, but the scenery was beautiful and the hospitality was also great. We thoroughly enjoyed our day for a much better price than some of their competitors quoted!

Il Borro Relais & Chateaux

Reviewed By kwagmeister - Evansville, Indiana

We spent five nights at Il Borro -- and enjoyed the wine cellar tour during our last afternoon at the beautiful resort.
The Ferragamo family has painstakingly restored the estate and its picturesque medieval village. We stayed in the village and it was fantastic -- have you ever wondered, in Disney, what it might be like to stay in one of the picturesque little villages they recreate as part of the Magic Kingdom? That is what staying at Il Borro was like ...only better because of the charm, the views, the people -- even the resident cat, Peepo.
The cellar tour was fun and very informative. You begin with a video which describes the history of the estate, who owned it over time, and then chronicles the restoration by the Ferragamo family and description of the vineyards, olive groves and farm. Our knowledgeable guide then led us through the art gallery -- with marvelous pieces including a Manet, Warhol, and Picasso etching among many others -- all representing the topic of wine. Then it's on to the cellar, where you pass the bottling machine, cases prepared for shipment, and then the oak barrels. The sight and scent of the wine is wonderful.
In the middle of the cellar is the tasting room. We tasted four of the estate's wines, each one better than the last. Crackers drizzled with the estate's own olive oil helped to cleanse our palates in between. It was very enjoyable.
There is a wine shop on the premises that sells some Ferragamo products also -- you can ship home or order from home.
We were so glad we took the tour. We had been enjoying the wines during our visit and this just tied the bow, so to speak, on the experience.

Mulino ad Acqua

The guidebook suggested spending ten minutes in Loro to walk down to the old mill. It didn't say what a beautiful place Loro is, perched on its Tolkein-esque gorge. We spent rather longer.
If I say that it's a scruffy little old Italian town, that may sound like a mortal insult, but I don't mean it unkindly. The old houses with their pretty tiled roofs pile up on one another, some looking rather dilapidated, but it is a real village/small town with useful shops, and we stopped for a coffee in a small shop patronised by locals having a chat to the lady who runs it - in fact there was nothing touristy there at all, and the coffee and brioche was the cheapest we found in all Tuscany. I explained we wanted to sit down at the outside table to drink, but she told us there was no extra charge for sitting or standing.
There was nothing touristy about the mill, either, other than that it was old. Entrance was free - donations welcome for the upkeep - and the man who ran it explained how it operated. Alas, there had been no rain for over a week so the water that comes down from the hills, operated the machinery and then pours down into the gorge had dried up. He suggested we come back the following day as rain was expected, but we were heading home in the early hours so couldn't. (Hardly had we left than the rain began and was torrential all day and all night), But we did buy some flour, chestnut and ordinary, and now I have to find some recipes to do it justice. The owner doesn't speak English but whenever my Italian failed miserably we found that sign-language was perfectly adequate
Definitely worth more than ten minutes if you are in the Casentino.

Torre di Galatrona

Reviewed By paolo b - Arezzo, Italy
