A.R.Rahman's popular song "Mattargashti" (search on youtube) from the Film TAMAASHAH in 2015 was shot here...after seeing the song i had made it a point to visit this picturesque location. The picturisation of the song was not even10 percent of the actual beauty of this place.See my pics to know why. This was much much beautiful and i visited it in the Morning,Evening and next day from the opposite Port de bastia from where I clicked the exterior of this Magnificient attraction. For Love Couples this place is a Boon !!!

We were there on a Sunday and were only just let in for about 10 minutes before a service. Lots of interesting things to look at around the church, well worth a visit.

This is no dramatic port, but just down from the Citadel (museum) this little harbour is a pleasant place to have a drink or three or perhaps lunch. It's a little touristy but not too bad (I write in late August) and the place is actually used - there are numerous pleasure boats moored along the jetty. A decent place for a kir royale...!

Richly decorated with paintings, gilding, inlaid marble and statues, this church is altogether magnificent. All built to house the mysterious black crucifix that was according to the story, found in the sea by fishermen centuries ago.

This is Bastia's main square, which is quite a large open space with a number of cafes, restaurants, bars along one of its sides, opposite the port area. Probably the most interesting aspect of the square is the statue of Napoleon, dressed like an ancient Roman Emperor.

The museum is beautifully situated, and has a nice combination of history and art. A downside is the fact that most descriptions are only available in French, even though there are a lot of English speaking tourists.
Definitely go up to the garden, on the top-floor of the museum. It boasts an amazing view of Bastia!

We decided to reach the Glaciers mostly by foot and climbed the whole distance from the old port, it was quite exhausting in the glaring unforgiving Corsican sun. But we managed once we were there we realised that the place is huge and you need to have energy and preferably a car or at least a scooter to get around so we really only reached the edge and admired the view for a quite a while before taking public transport back.
Very beautiful, off the traditional tourist root so wont find that many camera snapping tourist. Might even have a guard dog or two startled at what you are doing there trying to let his presence known so a respect and love for animals is recommended.

We took the tourist "train" from Bastia's main square ("Place St. Nicolas") up to the top of the Citadel ... the historical area of Bastia ... where we found this Cathedral. It was built in the 17th century and is very tasteful and not as ornate as many other churches / cathedrals we have seen. The altar is worth seeing but the main interest in this Cathedral is the "sterling silver statue of the Virgin Mary" behind a protective glass cupboard.
