Histria Aromatica Park is located near Bale. The park is adorned with walking trails through the plantations and bio-gardens hosting many species of indigenous aromatic and medicinal plants and spices, olive groves and vineyards, creating a natural paradise for all the senses. Apart from the restaurant and a magnificent view, you can visit our museum, lab, and shop with natural cosmetics.
Very interesting visit ,so many colours and a lot of information about herbs and their beneficial properties.

We used Rovinj as our base for exploring Istria, which worked beautifully. Tiny, lovely Bale is a few minutes drive away, and has a definite artistic feel to it, in addition to its history. Bale is a well-preserved ancient village, with a soothing ambience, and it makes a great stop if you are doing a day trip to busy, bustling Pula to see the Roman ruins. Stop in Bale on your way back to Rovinj, do some olive oil tasting, have a drink in the cafe, and admire the curious beauty of the small twisting streets that circle the church and bell tower. Bale would also make a good biking destination from Rovinj, since you take all back roads to get there.
Interesting note: Casanova ( the famous lover of women) frequented Bale, in order to visit a certain lady, and the tavern he frequented is still open for business, and offers live jazz.

Fantastic day out with a guide. 4 hours of SAPing and kayaking across several bays, picnic lunch of meats, cheeses and bread washed down with juices. Great fun and exercise. Photos say it all, sun, laughs and beers to finish.

This small church is located on the south edge of the old town just off Ulica San Zuian.
More than half the frescos are gone. What remains looks fairly amateurish with only a few colors mostly yellow, orange and red with bits of green and occasionally blue. still the scenes are easily recognizable.

After having tried San Tommaso Malvasija wine in restaurants in Rovinj we wanted to buy some to take home. We were met by a very friendly and serviceminded representantive who let us try all of the wines as well as looking at the small display in the house. We also had a quick look outside where apparentely some cattle was held for Tito as well as bread was baked during that time. We recommend this winery, but a good advise is to make a call first to make sure someone is there to receive you.

Re-opening of Dodo Bar in 2017 is probably one of the best local things. This is a little "strange" bar, but we all love it. Great music, cold beer, far away from others and excellent environment definitively sets Dodo Bar among best San Polo attractions.

St Elizabeth's is the largest of the 3 churches in Bale's old town. No set hours so not sure when you can get in. There's a crypt in the back with a plaque but again no hours.
