We were picked up at our hotel in a small covered boat and brought to Isla Corazon where we switched to a canoe. Our guide was very knowledgeable about wildlife in the area and pointed out many species of birds. The trip through the mangroves took about 45 minutes and it was peaceful and quiet. Wonderful trip.

Important historical and archeological exhibits of the area are displayed to a very high standard, although many of the descriptions are in Spanish it's fairly straightforward to understand the basic information.
There was a very interesting art gallery upstairs, the attendants were very helpful. Good toilet facilities.

Las Caras Bridge is the longest bridge in Ecuador the stretches across Bahia de Caraquez'es bay. Its is a beautiful walk or bike ride as you cross the 1.2km estuary that's teaming wild life. From the lookout points you have panoramic views of the peninsula city , and Isla de Corazon/ Heart island. Puente las Caras is also the home to Bahia Active annual 10km half Marathon run.

As you walk along Bahia's Malecón you'll probably wonder where the beach is exactly. Just 5 minutes from Bahia in car is Punta Bellaca, or Bahia's missing beach. It's here that you'll find an incredibly laid back and peaceful atmosphere by its beautiful sandy shores, away from the noise and crowds that make up the city; and perhaps even find yourself grateful that Bahia's hidden beach isn't right up against civilization. To arrive from the backside of Bahia. $2 in taxi. Just be sure to coordinate with the driver on getting back/having a pick-up time.

Unbelievable that this most famous icon of Bahia de Caraquez and one of Bahia's major attractions is not yet on Trip Advisor.
Climb up one of several staircases in the early morning, or early evening to avoid the mid day heat or take a taxi. While the park and the cross itself is in need of some TLC you climb several stories within the cross for some magnificent vistas of the entire region. Wonderful views of the ciudela of Bahia, the estuary, San Vicente, Canoa & Cerro Seco. This icon's unmistakable silhouette is lit at night defining Bahia.

This beach is located on the north side of the peninsula Bahia de Caraquez, the ocean is flat on this side so its perfect for all types of water activities, you can rent, kayaks, seadoos, go wake boarding, knee boarding, banana boating ect. Its also a comfortable beach for sunbathing and swimming. At 4 pm many expats get together a practice yoga near the life guard house.
